2018 DS Differences b/t All Electric and Propane Coach
I'm helping someone who is looking to buy a used Newmar Dutch Star. They found a 2018 that is not all electric and has the propane cooktop.
I was trying to explain the differences between the all electric and the one with propane, that only uses propane for the cooktop. I honesty don't know all the differences, except there are more batteries and I think they're AGM. The buyer is watching this post.
Please post the differences that you can think of that exist between the two setups. There has to be some subtle things that aren't necessarily listed.
This is not intended to be an argument between the two setups, just information gathering.
Are the inverters a different size?
How many batteries and what type?

Inverter: Standard for 2018 is the MF-2012F (Modified Sinewave) - OPT-J620
This is with 4 batteries
If the upgrade to residential refrigerator is done, then you get the ME-2012 (Pure Sinewave) - OPT-J770 and 2 extra batteries
EMS is not standard, and may not be available.
Storage bays will be different due to propane tank.

That's good. I would hate a coach without EMS

The prospective buyer can go to www.newmarcorp.com and download a brochure for each different model he wants to view. The brochure shows the differences between the coach's. However, according to the brochure,
AEC - All Electric, Flush Mount Induction Cooktop, Whirlpool 19.7 Refrigerator, 2 Extra AGM Batteries, & 2800 Inverter.
it's my belief, all DS inverters are Magnum. Don't believe any DS comes with modified sign wave inverter. Not sure if any Newmar Diesel coach comes with a modified inverter. Believe they are all magnum except the New Aire, which has Xantrex. Some of the rich people units (LA, ESX, etc.) may have something different. So propane comes with 4 AGM's and the upgrades are 2800 inverter with 6, and the AEC with 8 and 2800 Watt Inverter.

I can assure you Dutch star don and his 12000+ posts is not a troll.
This was a legitimate question, and one that the manuals do not directly answer. Sure the info is there, but it is not clearly defined as to what's what, and when the options are added/removed.

Yep, realized after typed that, that DSD was not troll. Brochure is not clear, with what is standard, and then when you chose x, what else you get. I read and read and read to figure it out. Then, we when had finally figured out which model we wanted, the AEC was not available in that model, so back to drawing board which is why we picked the 3407. It has the biggest shower, but the FP in the 3426 was better for us, oh well, nothing is perfect. I still have to go back to brochure/order form and figure out what is what and so on.
