2018 NADP House Air

Went out yesterday for a trip and found the coach warm with only rear AC working. Upon a bit of investigation I found with the temp set of 72 degrees the silverleaf showed the front temp to be 40 degrees. Thinking it may be the sensor I used a hair dryer on the temp sensor and it increased the temp to 76 degrees and the AC came on but the temp lowered to below 50 soon after removing the hair dryer and the AC shut down.

I believe it may be a sensor or a module for the silverleaf. If it is the sensor I assume it may run to the AC and the signal gets back to silverleaf somehow, but have no idea of how it is routed and fear it will be a bear to replace and kind of wonder it it might be spliced without running a complete sensor wire without messing up the ohm measurement. If it is a silverleaf module where is it. I have heard that the tie holding the sensor wire is hold in place under the little plastic cover with a zip tie has affected the sensor by somehow changing the ohms in the wire, so I did remove the tie and let the wire sit for a while and no change.

Try reaching out to the SilverLeaf team. They have been very helpful in diagnosing numerous problems with our NA. The dometic heat controller is located on the wall behind the front overhead switch panel, which I still need to rewire and add lighting to. Not sure where each sensor connects to.

I read on the forum that the thermocouple wires run to the Silverleaf module on the driver side, on the wall of the 3rd bay. I believe there was also a comment that there was no slack in the wire. I haven't had to dig into this yet. I wouldn't hesitate to call Newmar or Silverleaf for help. Good luck. Please post your findings.

I had an issue with the temperature in the rear bathroom in my 2018 MADP reporting about 5 degrees too warm. The solution was to add more resistance (a 470 ohm resistor) between the thermistor and the TM-250. Art at Silverleaf helped my in determining the size of the resistor.

The NA also uses the TM-250. According to Silverleaf it’s located “(Behind poly-carb, around )”. Perhaps you have a loose connection where the thermistor connects to the wires going to the TM-250, the connector on the TM-250 is loose, or a bad thermistor.

I appreciated all the info I have received, my issue appears to be a temp sensor issue, with the outside chance of the AC control board. I visited with Art at silverleaf for a bit today and he told me that if the rear works well it is most likely the sensor as the sensor on two heat pump units go directly to the AC and the module gets its signal from a phone cable that runs from the front AC unit to the rear and then to the module. He did tell me that he thought I could get a 3' temp sensor from Dometic which I could splice without running the compete cable. I will verify when I can by checking the ohms on both sensors and see how close they are. Seems everything I get into helps a bit on my learning curve. Thanks again to everyone who has helped.
