2019 DSDP/Freightliner with 5 Year Chassis Warranty
Today I received my vin# from Newmar for my 2019 DSDP 4369 that is in production. I have been waiting to get this so that I could contact Freightliner and get a quote for the 5 year plan.
As we all know, Newmar has increased the price of the Spartan Chassis for 2019 to $3,500.00. This price increase seemed to be due in part to a new 5 year / 75,000 mile chassis warranty offered by Spartan.
I decided to find out what Freightliner is offering for their 5 year plan, so I called an received a quote:
Here are the Extended Coverage Options:
Extended Axles: 60 Months 100,000 Miles $150.00
Extended Axles: 84 Months 250,000 Miles $200.00
Extended Chassis: 60 Months 100,000 Miles $1,425.00
Extended Chassis: 60 Months 200,000 Miles $1,825.00
Towing & Roadside Assistance: 60 Months Unlimited Miles $925.00
Extended Cummins ISL17 60 Months 100,000 Miles Standard (No Charge)
Extended Allison Transmission: 60 Months 200,000 Miles Standard (No Charge)
Also, for the first 23 months of ownership, this price remains unchanged!
The 5 year is from the time it is originally sold, so it will be fixed at 5 years.
This is a great option to have 100% of the Freightliner chassis covered for 1/2 the price of the spartan upgrade, and is available on all Freightliner chassis.
And for those that want the Spartan, now you know that only 1/2 the upgrade fee is the Spartan up-charge, the remainder is the service/warranty.

The Spartan chassis includes the coach side Air Force One brake system. So that reduces the difference more.

And by all accounts includes a recreation of the bull simulator from Urban Cowboy.

That may be the case if you already have the system, or plan on installing it. I have no idea what the cost of the coach side connection is. I use the BrakeBuddy, and have for 10 years without a problem. I like the flexibility of being able to use a single system on any coach, and all of my tow vehicles.
I am certainly an unusual case, having 3 different tow vehicles, so I understand that most people will not see this benefit.
I did have to install the break-away cable on all of my tow vehicles, but that was minimal when considering they also needed the tow bar and brake light setup done too.

Redbaron, do you go through (pay) Newmar to add this FTL extended warranty package at time of purchase or is it direct with FTL? Thanks for
"discovering" this important option.
Thanks
David

It’s not a Spartan chassis and that is what is important even if you purchase a extended warranty for your FL. There is a difference. Newmar Man

2019 DSDP/Freightliner with 5 Year Chassis Warranty
“Spartan upgrade” - that made me laugh. Thanks.
Freightliner is on par with Newmar and offers unrivaled customer service. I feel no need to buy extended warranties with Freightliner as I feel very taken care of by this company and could not have higher confidence in their product.

No, this is a Freightliner direct option. You can purchase anytime while it is under the original warranty.
What's nice about this setup is it alters the date in the computer system that every freightliner shop accesses. There is no pre-approval process for warranty claims, it just shows up as covered.

Thanks for posting. I originally looked on the Freightliner web site and didn't see any information showing that the engine and the transmission is covered in the warranty. That being the case, I may purchase the warranty. Coming up on 23 months very soon.

Paul it may not be an option for purchasing on anything but 2019 coaches. Anyone ask that question?

Yes, it is available on all coaches 2014+. Max term is 5 years total length and it must be under the original 3 year warranty. This means that practically it is 2016+ for most people.
This is also all Freightliner chassis, no matter the brand of motorhome.

In sorting the apples of the we "versus" them, don't forget to figure the discount off MSRP on the negotiated price on a new Spartan. Remember, $3500.00 is the retail price.

I know you don't like Spartan, but based on what I've read, the reason that Spartan has played hard ball on the shocks is because Newmar made the call to go with the less damped shocks to have a softer ride.
So, if this was in fact a Newmar call, it's hard to then blame Spartan for not warrantying it.
