2019 Dutch Star Slide Out Issue

The bedroom slide on my Dutch Star 4018 binds momentarily when I start to put it. I am being told that I need a new slide out "module" at a cost of $800. I also noticed that the leading edge of the slide out is flush to the wall at the top and is not at the bottom. What exactly is a slide out module?

The slide out module is the controller for the slide out motor. Located in the cabinet close to the slide. Will be a group of wires attaching to the unit. Would check to see if the connectors are tight. Have assisted other owners with similar problem and battery/voltage problems were the issue.

Have you checked the motor bolts on the slide?

Our 2018 DS is a 4 slide floor plan and both bedroom slides use the same model controller. I have had to replace both, one 2-3 months ago and one last week. When either of ours failed, the slide would not move at all. Switching the controller from the opposite side got it to open/close. Since your slide moves I suspect it is not the controller. Could also be an
adjustment issue or motor/gear problem..

Sounds more like the slide needs to be adjusted.
I don’t know what Newmar uses but re-syncing a slide might fix the issue.
I know my slim racks can be re-synced very easy.

I would do a few things first. Remove the panels under the bed and check the bolt motors to start. On both sides, just inside the bed box, about the middle of the bed, there are four big bolts, bolting the bed box and slide assembly to the slide mechanism. Newmar doesn't use flat washers when they should. Those can come loose and throw the bed out of alignment.

Sometimes, sticky slide seals can cause it to bind and then release. Take an old cotton sock and fill it with about 7-8 ounces of talcum powder. Rub it on the exterior slide seals. For under the slide topper, attach it to a pole and then just bang it along the seal under the topper.

Thanks, everyone. I was able to speak to a Newmar service rep after making my initial post. He was certain that it was not the control module as its sole function is to send current to the motors. He said that the slide is bottom heavy and mentioned the possibility that the seals were sticking as mentioned by Don. He also thought that the fit of the side to the wall of the coach was within tolerance. When I get the rig back I'll take a look at the bolts and see if anything is going on with them.
