2019 Jeep Wrangler as Toad
I have a 2019 Jeep Wrangler I intend to tow behind our Baystar. The Wrangler has the backup battery module on it. I would like to install a RVI battery charger plus to keep both batteries charged during flat towing. Has anyone done this and did you find it was successful? Thanks in advance.

When we installed the tow bar and base plate on our 2019 Jeep Wrangler, I had the installer add a charge line to the 7 pin connector. He ran it from the connection on the base plate to the main battery. Works great and have never had an issue.

If you go with the Invisibrake system, it has built-in charging capability.

If haven’t already purchased the braking system, look at the Readybrake. No charge line required, no drain on battery. Can’t help if you need a charge line.

I have the RVi brake system. Installed everything myself. The towed battery charger works great. You can monitor the voltage and amperage from the tablet. I tow a GMC Sierra which requires the battery to be disconnected. Dont know if the Jeep does too. I ran a 12v charge line direct to battery for the RVi brake. I installed the Roadmaster diode kit in my tail lights and found that for everything to work correctly I had to disconnect both positive AND negative side of battery. Just giving you extra info incase you're going that route.
I probably didn't need the TBC+ but added it just to be safe. They told me the RVi brake uses very little amperage draw.

I use the RVi-3 Brake system on a 2018 Wrangler JK from Anchorage AK to Summerfield FL without the battery charger add on. However it may be necessary on the JL.

When you say “backup battery module”, do you mean the small Auxiliary battery that’s part of the ESS system (electronic start-stop) ?

I discovered on my 2014 jk that I can simply leave the key out of the ignition, even though that goes against what the owners manual says. My Jeep does not have a steering wheel lock. So with the key out, I tow 500 miles or so with no detrimental drain on the battery. Prior to that I had left the key in and it did drain the jeeps battery. An advantage with leaving the key out is that I don’t believe the miles are logged in the odometer. (I haven’t double checked that, but with the key in, it tells me I have 120 miles per gallon, but with the key out, that does not happen)

I have towed my 2020 Wrangler Rubicon for 2 days straight without unhooking or shutting off my Blue Ox Patriot braking system and I don't have a charge line. I did find that ALL of the accessory plugs shut off after a short period of time. I had to run a accessory plug directly to the battery. I never had a low voltage problem.

I tow a 2020 Wrangler and I did run a charge wire to the main battery on the Wrangler. I built my own charge wire and installed a fuse in the charge wire at the battery.
My brake system is the Demco Stay In Play Duo.
Works perfect.

In my 2014, and my previous 2012, the cigarette plug in the center console has electric to it all the time. That’s where I plug my brake buddy in to.

The OP has 2019 and if like my 2020 it only has a only has a USB port in the in the center console. The one in dash only stays on for short period of time after you turn the key off. My 2017 Wrangler had the accessory plug in the center console that remain hot after turning the key off.

My 2012 also had a hot all the time 12 outlet in the right rear, below the subwoofer, but my 2014 does not have that. It’s hard to make sense from one year to the next. About the usb and outlet in the center console, in 2012 that came with what was called the “connectivity” package.

Answering questions
I do have the RVIbrake3. I had a wire run from the main battery to inside the vehicle to power up the unit. The cigarette lighter does not work when the Jeep is not running. The module I was talking about is indeed the small auxiliary battery. Thanks for all of the input so far. Bob
