2019 Radiator leaks, Spartan won’t cover!

Our 2019 Ventana on Spartan chassis has a small hole in the radiator that resulted in a 140 mile tow.
After driving 220 miles with NO issues, we pulled into a state park and saw fluid leaking as the toad was being unhitched. We were safe in our camping spot, and are thankful we weren’t along the winding roads leading to this Texas park.
No alarms, no rise in temperature. Coach continued to drip through the night. Called Coach-Net. 2 choices:
1) have mechanic come out
2) tow
If choose #1 and can’t be repaired on site, then tow is no longer an option.
You only get one choice so we chose tow!

Upon inspection by Cummins mechanic it appears there is a small hole in the radiator where fluid is spewing. Ok, let’s get it repaired....SPARTAN WONT COVER IT! Wait, there is a 5 year warranty. It seems it is suspected that something punctured the radiator, maybe from the road???

Has anyone experienced this ??? We’d appreciate your thoughts on this.

it it was road debris your insurance should cover it. the Tech would have to say that it was hit by somehitng.

I've not had the experience, but I agree with Burgy's post.

The factory warranty, from every manufacturer, is for defects in materials and workmanship, not hazards encountered on the road. Once the cause of the leak is determined, you will know to which party, Spartan or your insurance carrier, to contact for compensation or coverage.

Sorry to hear of your radiator issues. Spartan warranty is only 3 years as far as I know, not 5 years. Even when Spartan had defective radiators back in 2013-2017 they would not cover it after warranty. Good luck getting Spartan to do anything for you other than sell you another radiator.

Seriously? No manufacturer will cover under warranty anything that is considered road hazard damaged. It states in most warranties that they're not responsible for repairs as a result of an accident or road hazard. If something punctured your tire sidewall would you expect the tire manufacturer to replace it?

Update: Because no radiators will be available for months due to the fact that all current radiators are “spoken for” along the supply chain, we opted to have the radiator repaired. The Cummins shop was great to work with. We located a repair shop in town that had experience with big diesels and asked the Cummins shop if they had experience with the radiator shop. They worked great together and had our coach fixed in a day and a half. Everyone we worked with were professional and skilled.

Interestingly, since this was the second time road debris created issues (1st time road debris, in the form of a small piece of metal wedged in where the serpentine belt runs, shredded 2 belts). This time a small rock punctured the radiator.

Wait… what?

If you have coachnet and accept the call out for a tech ($150?), and they can’t fix it, they won’t cover a tow (1500$)?

Are you sure?

Can you retroactively cover the tech yourself?
