2021 Tiffin Bus updates---INTERESTING

Just read what was going to be new on the 2021 Allegro Bus. I thought it was interesting that it would have a steerable tag, 360 camera system, and a water saving system in the shower. I have had all of these now for a year.

Hi Bill - I noticed that over on TRVN as well. Product research seems to be looking at what other builders did last year and tagging it on. "Consumer Engineering- Red Bay Style". Did you see the price lists? The boys are really leaving Bob's values in the dust. Glad to be on this side of the street.

You know how to find a Burger King?

Look for a McDonald's.

I think they've always gone back and forth. Tiffin had the façade side walls two years before Newmar followed along. Tiffin also offers their Spyder system in Allegro Bus, before Newmar offers the Silverleaf in the Dutch Star. I'm sure in a year or so, Tiffin will be offering an escape door. The back and forth is what draws one customer to one brand or another each new model year.

Imitation IS the sincerest form of flattery. I believe Newmar invented the slide out, right? Now look, practically every RV has one. Years ago, American Coach debuted the exit door located behind the toilet in the rear bath. Newmar made it better by making it reusable. The 2020 Phaeton introduced the water saver in the shower, now it's trickling UP to the Bus.

Some things didn't work: Mid-engine diesels/mid bedroom layouts Newmar tried, proximity sensor light switches in Tiffins, 38ft+ floorplans on Fleetwood gas chassis, the railed/12ft patio that hinged down from the PS side of a coach (don't remember who tried that)...etc.

I think it's great when mfr's pick up on what another has had success with & integrates or even improves it. Keeps the market competitive.

That was the Country Coach Veranda. Very short lived idea.

Hi DSDon - Tiffin has an escape door. Not as good as Newmar or American but there none the less.

Just saw a video showing Tiffin's new escape door. It flips down and the steps fold out. I like it better than Newmar's but not enough to make me buy one.

Hi - I'd rather open a door and walk down some steps than move pillows and bedding out of the way, turn my body around and go down a wall (which has a high risk of screwing up the side of the coach if it is out of adjustment). Really Newmar did it right once they put the ladder in the mix.

Its clever. I bet if I were in a hurry, I'd slip and fall on my, um, arm. Yeah, I'd fall on my arm. I do think it is clever, nonetheless.

I believe they invented the powered slideout. I'd have to go back and look at my pictures from my visit to the RV Museum at the RV/MH Hall of Fame in Elkhart but there was a "camper car" there from very early in the 1900's with THREE slides! The back pushed out to make a bed space long enough to lay in and two side slides came out of that for storage and cooking stuff. They were on wooden dovetails as the slide mechanism. Pretty cool.
