Has anyone taken delivery of the new option for the lithium ion battery package? If so, can you give us your feedback and first impressions.

Smile Delivery of 23 Newmar 10/29/22

Took delivery of our first Newmar as replacement for 2017 Holiday Rambler. Excellent quality coach with lots of great features. Unfortunately coach came with some bugs. Unable to use cruise control (1200 mile trip) Still working to resolve problem after spending 11 hours at Freightliner dealers so far. Late today; apparently Newmar failed to install the radar unit in the front cap, it’s required to make unit operational. Waiting for response from Newmar. This is a driving machine, look out for Smokie…. I got 7 mpg with pulling Ford Explorer at, let’s say… over 70MPH! Great handling and wonderful visibility and plenty of power. Lithium batteries have not been given a really good test but performed perfect while boondocking at rest area. Ask me questions. Happy to answer and send pictures.

Congrats on your beautiful new rig. You may get close to 7mpg where you live-it's real flat but don't count on that as you go west or north. Also, the dash mpg estimate is usually a little optimistic. Word of caution: though these rigs handle ok at higher speeds, your tires have a max speed rating of 75mph. But of more concern than that is how much longer it takes to slow or stop that rig at those speeds-not safe-especially if you should incur a flat or need to make any type of evasive maneuver. I am always concerned about killing someone else if I can't get my rig stopped safely. My Tesla will do over 160mph-does not mean it's safe to do it! Biggest cause of highway accidents is failure to reduce speed.

I was getting only 6.25 mpg when very new. Now at just under 28K miles on the rig, I'm getting 7.25 mpg. Takes time to break in a Cummins. Hopefully will get 7.75 mpg at 40K?

Basically, I don't believe anyone who says they can consistently get in the 7's with a 40 or 43 DS. I can get from the high 5's to barely 7 depending on the hills, wind, and yes speed makes a huge difference. Someone believing they get 7's at over 70 mph should not trust mpg gauge as wind has a huge affect on milage. Even trying to figure out milage based on fill up gallons is difficult because diesel foams so much, your fill up amount can change many gallons based on fill rate and pump shut off sensors.

We tow a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse and the manual says it should not be towed above 65mph. We only exceed that when we have to pass for brief moments.

Curious how we start the thread to get first impressions of the Lithium Battery Pack option introduced in the 23 model year and we’re talking about fuel economy? I’m sure there are a thousand threads discussing fuel economy. Has anyone taking delivery of the Lithium battery option in a 2023 ?

My coach is a 2016 that I upgraded to Lithonics (600ah) the same battery supplier Newmar uses in the new coaches.

The Lithonics battery is one of the best upgrades I’ve done to the coach and I would absolutely order a new coach with the Lithonics option.

Anyone know if Newmar is using a 24v setup with their lithium upgrades?
