30 + 20 = 50?

If the electric box has a 30 amp outlet and a 20 amp outlet could you use them both with a converter and have 50 amp in the couch?

In the COUCH?

Just having fun...

OK...well yes. Kinda...

There are a couple threads on using a pig tail adapter that you plug into both the 30 & 20 amp plugs and then plug into your 50 cord.

Various levels of success and approval. Those that have tried it say if the post is GFI, it won't work. Some (me at least) think you need to make sure it is approved by the GC management.

You can find these adapters in Camping World and other camper supply stores.

The campground may have cheated and wired off same power leads for both outlets inside their box.
Even if they did not one side of your load center would have less current for that side of load center where one of your AC's would be wired.

If you mean do you have true 50 amp service, the answer is an emphatic no. 120/240VAC 50 amp service provides 2 hot legs with a theoretical 50 amp capacity on each hot leg for a total of 12,000 watts (120VAC x [50 amps + 50 amps]). IF you could get your cheater box to work on a 30 and 20 amp campground service (if the 20 amp service is GFCI protected, the imbalance in neutral and hot leg currents means the 20 amp GFCI will trip), you would only have 6,000 watts with your cheater box (120VAC x [30 amps + 20 amps]).
