Sadly (OK very sadly), that often means you have to try to separate the correct from the incorrect.

This one is EASY. Pull out your VOM meter. Set it to ohms. Check with one lead on the 30 amp hot and the other lead to each of the hots on the 50 amp end. Both hots on the 50 amp end will show continuity to the hot on the 30 amp end.

Yes sir. I get it. Still watching. I keep a close on eye on you, lol.
Thank you.

My bad! I just read the rest of the post and it seems that you already installed it.

Do you get power to the coach if you don't use the surge protector? Since this is only a 120V circuit, the surge protector may not like it since it is probably expecting 220V across the two hot wires L1 and L2. A 120V circuit with a dog bone will read 0V between L1 and L2.

Do the test on your RV 30 male to 50 female adapter described in post #15 and tell us what YOU learn.

Is your rig 30 or 50 amp. I'm guessing 30 beings you want to install a 30 amp recepticle. And I will also guess that your EMS 50 is from the past or given to you. Why not get a 30 amp EMS?.
My rig is 50amp, but it will run on 30amp as well. I plan to use 50amp in the camp grounds when it's available. I haven't tried plugging it in without the surge suppressor but I guess I can try that

I read that the EMS-PT50X is designed to work with 50amp and 30amp.

Thank you. By surge suppresser you mean EMS, I would NOT plug the coach in without an EMS!!!

If this is a DIY job, then I hope you understand things like wire size, circuit length and voltage drops.
The electrician that wired it is a professional commercial electrician

Yes... I would not risk damaging your RV in the event of a power surge.

Too late to edit my last post. I just went out and took a look my EMS which is not the preferred one from this forum, like Progressive.
I do NOT have a 30 amp or a 50 amp recepticle yet to plug into.
So I have no choice that I know of to protect from surges etc except from the breaker the recepticle is wired too.
Sounds like your getting it under control Steve. Not trying to hijack your post, just exchanging info to learn from.
Thank you Wolf and others for your expertise.
