Seeing an RV with slides in is a MUST for my wife and I before purchase so we can determine usability on the road with slides in. I suggest you get that checkpoint on your list next time. Not Newmar's fault...not a defect. If they are doing anything to change it to be more to your liking, consider it a bonus.

I understand the OPs problem. I bought the previous year's model of the same coach. It had a clever bathroom door hinge so that you could access the bathroom with the slides in. IN 2023 they went to a full coach slide along the side opposite the bathroom and changed the door to regular hinges. FWIW, my wife didn't like the offset hinges on ours - until she understood the engineering and the need for access to the bathroom. Why they changed on the 2023, I don't know, but it is a major flaw in the design.
As to seeing your coach with the slides in before buying, historically that may have been possible. During covid there simply wasn't stock you could look at.
Many people ordered a 2022 Baystar and had it upgraded to a 2023 because of delays in production of the 2022s. Those people would not have had an opportunity to see the coach before buying and probably would have assumed that Newmar would continue with the earlier design which works.
I bought my coach sight unseen simply because no one had any within 1000 miles of me that I could look at. (I did have a provision in my contract that allowed me to walk away after inspecting the Coach, though my principle concern there was the noise level which I had been told was much lower than in my old RV. It was!) However, I spent hours on the internet looking for pictures of that coach with the slides in. I finally found one - just one - at a dealer's web site in MN. It was very revealing and I was pleased with what I saw.
