46 mm or 60 mm Bilstein Shocks on a Spartan K2 Chassis

I have a 2008 MADP that need new Shocks. I will get to front done here in south Texas and then go north in the summer to have Newmar do the coach Maintenance and Spartan do the chassis maintenance.

When I called Spartan to get the Shock numbers and parts they said the numbers are for a 46mm shock and that they are the replacement for the 60mm Shock.

Parts and Spartan said that they had not sold the 60mm in years and that the valve configuration on the 46mm makes it a better shock.

Can anyone out there that knows more about shocks than I do help me with the question, 46mm manufacturer replacement or 60mm original equipment.

Thanks for your help

We have a 18 London Aire on the Spartan K-3 chassis with the X-15 605. For the 1st year when at highway speeds and it a big dip we would get a bottoming out on the front suspension. It had to be a really large dip but our previous Essex didn't have this bottoming out. Start check and found out the King Aire with almost the same chassis had 60mm front shocks not the 46mm of MA, LA and Essex had in that year. Purchased a set of Bilstein 60 mm King Aire front shocks and problem solved. Did add front air control valves a little later and that would be my recommendation today. Starting in 2020 Spartan K-3 chassis came with the 60 mm front shocks. A little firm ride but all around better drive.

I find it interesting that they told you they haven't use 60mm Bilstein Shocks in years since they're still standard equipment on the front of all their K3 and K4 chassis. I'd say the person who you talked with didn't know what they're talking about. Maybe they should check their own website.

My current Anthem rides on a K2 chassis and has 60mm Bilsteins on it. Rides fine with these shocks. From what I understand, Spartan hasn’t used 46mm shocks on an Entegra for some time.
