What is the best way to stop body roll, rear sway and front sway. If you respond would you please give me manufacturer and where to buy. I have a 300 hp cat engine with 25000 miles. Also should I have the transmission flushed and filter changed? When it down shifts it sometimes seems a little hard seems a little slow on shift. Thanks in advance for any help.

With you listing the Cat engine , I'll assume you have the Freightliner XC chassis .

As few if any Spartan chassis DSDPs were built without the Cummins engine.

If you don't have service records for the trans , YES fluid and filters , and treat it as a complete fluid change up; second fluid only change to get the rest of the Type 3 out ; for the Allison came from the factory with ATF Type 3 , and the trans will work better using the Transynd fluid.

I would definitely Change the Transmission fluid & filter unless the prior owner had it done in about 2009.

On the sway & roll issues- I would put new Koni shocks all the way around & try them- they are expensive $$$ but worth every penny in MHO- you'll be amazed at how much better the handling is. Call you chassis manufacture & get the Koni model # for your year coach. I think you probably have a Spartan Chassis, as I had the same year DSDP with a Spartan Chassis & 330 HP Cummins.

Happy Trails

A question about your tire sizes and what pressures you're running.
Have you weighed the coach when loaded for travel , and adjusted tire pressures accordingly?

A Newmar recall , of 97>2000 , Dutch Star on Freightliner chassis issued in 2004 , to replace the underrated front tires on the coaches .

The recall was to change from 255/80R/22.5 , to 275/70R/22.5s on the front axle, the owner of my coach at the time had all 6 tires changed to the larger tires.
If some how your coach missed the recall and is still running on the smaller tire . That would be a place to start.

No mine is definately the frieghtliner chassis. I should have posted that. It only has 25000 miles on it with cat engine. I'm going to check the front sway bar bushings. I hear a rattle when I cross a rough spot. It sounds like sway bar chattering or metal bumping.
