I'm hoping that one or more of you Newmar gurus can lend a hand here with some information. My 43' 2005 Mountain Aire 4304 has two Penguin II A/C/heat pump units on the roof. I had the front A/C unit changed out a month ago. I noticed last time we used the coach the back A/C unit was dripping lots of water on the ground coming off the drip rail ayt the rear of the coach, while the front unit produced virtually no water at all. It is cooling fine however. I am concerned because when I took the coach off the jacks, a large amount of water poured down the side off somwhere on the roof toward the front of the coach. I know the unit is producing water but it's not really getting rid of it correctly.
I figured that perhaps the drain in the new unit wasn't connected correctly or opened up so I had the installer come back today. He says the drain in the front A/C unit base is wide open. However, he poured water into the unit where it would drain normally, and the water came out but on roof. He is not a Newmar specialist, so he's not intimately familiar with this type coach, especialy with it being a bit older. However he said that there appears to be some sort of pan mounted under the A/C unit on the roof, and the pan has holes in it. He and I both presume that this pan is supposed to catch the water that drains out of the base of the A/C unit and drain it through a tube to under the coach. There is no water coming out anywhere under the coach when he pours water in there. My questions are:
-Is the water supposed to be collected in these two pans and drain through a hose or line underneath the coach or is it supposed to just run off the roof from the drip rails?
- If there are hoses, are there two seperate hoses, one for each A/C unit or one hose for both units?
-If there are hoses, where do they exit?
-If there are hoses and they are clogged, is this common? How do I clear them?
Any info you guys might be able to pass on would be greatly appreciated. We've used the coach 6-7 times in the year+ that we have it but I never really noticed where the water from the front A/C unit drains from.
Thanks.
