My recently purchased coach is going to be 10 years old and from what I am reading now is likely the right time to replace the A/C unit roof seals. After reviewing several "how to" write-ups, I don't recall having an interior assembly for the A/C units (note the coach is being serviced for the generator right now and I won't have it back for another week). Has anyone done this on their Newmar and if so how did you removed the roof A/C units?

Maybe not the same, but...
Monaco manual says to remove the inside the coach cover and tighten the mounting bolts one turn each year. The seals do dry out a little bit and this seems to do what I need.
However....do your seals leak?

No leak, this is more of a preventative measure. I have found out that Newmar is lag bolted from the top.

If it is not leaking and you can take up any slack by tightening a tad, why not? It aint and easy task to remove an A/C, and maybe not needed.
I have had rigs over 15 years old!
I will look to others to chime in.

Is there a way to verify the seal is good? For example, if it is still soft or something? They don't leak at all to my knowledge.

On mine, after taking the inside cover off I could see it and touch it. Tightened it up, done! A look couldnt hurt, eh?

Recently I read where a dealer tech told an owner to tilt the A/C and cut the gasket to remove and replace... I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU EVER CUT A GASKET.

If you choose to replace it pull the inner cover (there is one) and find the cables that run up to the upper unit from the control box.. There will be one or two plugs.

IF they are the kind where mixing them up or connecting them wrong is not possible unplug, then depending on bolt head location unbolt and go topside or go topside and unbolt.

IF they are the kind were mix ups are possible, Clean the plug and socket body off and using a magic marker put a single line on one, from socket to plug, and two lines on the other.

now go topside with a sheet of plywood, (partial sheet, like 2x2 feet)

Remove A/C set on wood

Remove & replace seal

Replace A/C, re-bolt etc

Back down and plug in, line up the lines if needed.

Replace lower cover

Job done.

Anyone got any photos? I see lots of stuff on other coaches where the bolts are accessed from the inside, but nothing on Newmar with the external lag bolts.
