A couple of issues from our recent mini-vaca

We took our 2002 DSDP to Irvine for the weekend and had an issue upon arrival with the kitchen slide out not wanting to go out. Everything was setup as normal (jacks down, level) and then I'd pressed the slide out button. The green light would light, but no announcement to ensure lock was released and all items were clear. No noise at all, basically the green light lit and nothing else happened. Our bedroom slide out operated normally. I call Newmar after hours, got a recording and never got a call back (??GRRR). Sometime (20 mins) later I tried again and poof the lady announced as normal and the slide out worked just like it always does. Leaving, no issues worked perfectly. All is good, but I'm concerned about the next time so I'd like to know why it failed.

Upon getting home, the right front jack (has issues all the time going down) won't extend. I'm calling my repair man for warranty repair on this.

It's extremely hot where we live so I like to have my bathroom and kitchen fans on auto so when the inside gets too hot the fans kick on. The kitchen fan kicks on but the cover won't lift. I went on top and to ensure it's not stuck, it's free. Then I switched it off and it reversed and ran forever, I pulled the fuse to stop it. Any ideas if I can rebuild it or the cost for a new one?

All that said, we had a great stay at Orangeland RV park and got to visit with my son and his girlfriend (he's stationed in San Diego) and my daughter enjoyed a day of orientation at University of California Irvine. Go Anteaters!

Just a guess at this time but most of everything that you mentioned would be 12 volt. Did you plug it in between the time you tried it the first time and the second time. It might have been low voltage not charging while going down the road. I would start with a voltage check. Battery check fluid, check each cell . Hope everything works now.

If you have the 12v auto locks for slides they will act up over time and need some cleaning on contacts inside that get corrosion on them. There is info on them and slide info in QT's 1 & 2.
The fan may need some 303 on the rubber seal so vent cover will lift more easier, use 303 on your slide seals so they do not stick periodically also.
The lift gear can jam also if mounting screws become loose over time, I have had mine apart just a job getting all back together doing alone.
Glad you had a good weekend other wise, safe travels.

So I figured out my fan issue. I pulled the cover off and found the spring steel pin had slid out of position allowing the lever arm to come loose. I pulled it down and put the lever back in place and re-inserted the pin. Put back together, checks 4.0. I'll have to keep an eye on it, as it will likely vibrate loose again.

I checked my voltage gauges and everything was good to go. I don't think I have auto locks? I have to pop the bars into place to keep the slide outs locked in. The batteries are only 6 months old and were on float charge so I'd say they were good. However, low voltage does make sense! Since after being connected to shore power for 20 minutes or so it worked. Hmmm....

Thanks for the inputs!

If the slide acts up again try it with ALL your 12v lights off. Every once in awhile that's what I have to do for our bedroom slide.

I had that same problem on fan, when opening or closing slides the motors need a good clean 12v with no resistance of wiring, like dirty connections ground or battery, operate with the shore power cord plugged in.
If you open slide in rest stop have engine running for a good 12v off alternator.
