A few electrical compartment upgrades

Started out by test fitting my Autoformer, it didn't.

I wanted my system to be modular, I did this same thing in my last coach only I had a huge electrical compartment in that one.

This one was a bit of a challenge.

Started out by disconnecting Shore power, House batteries, ( I added shut off switches for the house batteries) and my coach batteries.

Then I proceeded to open the transfer switch, take pictures and then remove the cord reel cord.

Unbolted the cord reel and was disappointed in how unsecure it was mounted.

They use a strip of aluminum screwed to the wood floor with sheet metal screws, weird, and just tuck the back end under the strip then only 2 sheet metal screws in the front, (but there are 3 mounting holes.)

So I pull out the reel, install the wall plug on the cord reel cord, then install a new pigtail in to the transfer switch.

I proceeded to do the roller guide mod others have done just a little different.

I then moved the power reel switch frontward on to the roller bracket so it is easier to reach.

I had removed the butt connectors on the power and ground leads to the power reel motor, shortened the harness and installed a weather pack connector so it is more serviceable without cutting wires for removal.

I rerouted the harness along the wall you can see in the picture.

I also removed the plastic cover panel and its mounting brackets in the back of the compartment for 3 reasons, to make room, gain access to all my fuses and relays, and clear a space for the wall plug coming from the cord reel.

On the back of the panel I found the menu so I cut it out and mounted it on the door.

I then removed and raised my cable TV and Satellite box as high as it will go.

I installed the optional monitor panel on the door.

I reinstalled the cord reel, moved it back further in the compartment making sure it had plenty of clearance, Unrolled the cord, used 6 WOOD screws to mount the cord reel securely, then powered the cord back on the reel.

Then finally I was able o fit my autoformer/surge protector in the compartment and plug it in between the cord reel and transfer switch.

See if you can pick out all the differences.

Looks good. I did a similar install. It's very heavy so I put mine against the forward wall and screwed a few l brackets to the floor so it can't move around.
If you hold the phone sideways the pictures come out correct.

Yes I am figuring this out not but these pictures were taken a few weeks ago.

I applied velcro to the bottom of the Autoformer and it doesn't move.

Post up some pics.

Mine would not fit any other way then how I have it, not sure if my compartment is smaller than others where I seen the Autoformer in between the transfer switch and cord reel.

Or they have a smaller transfer switch without surge protection?

I now have double surge protection with this set up.

I may try and move the transfer switch back further and higher in the compartment but I don't think I will gain much.

Ted.

Once you post and see that they're wrong, go to edit and click on the paper click, which will open up the photos. Click on the message itself that says MANAGE ALERTS and it will let you change them out. Advanced Edit also gives you a few more options.

No, you have to correct the photo you have and then reload. If it looks correct when you view the photo, wherever you have it stored, rotate it so it looks wrong, but loads right.

I did nearly the exact install including mounting the accessory display for the transfer switch on the door. My autoformer is a different brand, but looks to be about the same dimensions. I did relocate the transfer switch somewhat higher so the autoformer would fit between the transfer switch and the cord reel, and moved the cord reel switch to the rear side wall and the sat/cable box higher on the forward wall out of the way. So far it has worked out great.

I moved the receptacle up and the cable connection box to the rear wall. It was tight but it fit. Changed the picture rotation in my album but didn't help.

Just took them apart cut 1/4 inch off of each of the 4 long ones then just reassembled them as desired.

Looks Great nice job.

Your transfer switch is much higher than mine did you move yours up?

I will have to see If I can raise mine that high.

I think my autoformer is taller than yours it is a new model with surge protector built in and serviceable.

I do not have a 120 receptacle in my compartment.
