Question A/C went out 2016 Baystar- $$$??

Runningc generator today getting ready fir a trip to Oregon. Always run AC to put load. Ran zone 2 in bedroom today. lol et it go for an hour. AC running cool. Hour later it was off but really warm in coach. Restarted AC. Fan came on but compressor sounded funny. It shut down. E7 code we came up on thermostat. That code means total loss of power to board ac board. Checked breaker. Yep its tripped and wont reset.
I figure I’m screwed and will need a new AC unit. What am i looking at? $2k, $3k???
Its a heat pump unit. But ive heard since its a 2016 rig you cant fix those units. Its R&R.

Get it checked first

After you determine that the AC is bad, then talk replacement. The Heat Pump will run about $1,800 - $2,000 installed.

All of this makes sense that it would be a compressor until you said the breaker won’t reset, the compressor doesn’t have power when the Breaker is first reset. If the breaker is dead shorted it would be worth disconnecting the main power feed from the ac and see if the breaker resets. It’s possible something else shorted in the board or wiring to cause this just because the symptom.
Thanks,
Justin
