Accident avoidance beep on 2022 New Aire

Hey guys. My father in law purchased a 2022 New Aire recently and is losing his mind to the beeping from the dash when the accident avoidance system notices he is getting "too close" to the car in front of him. Is there a way to deactivate this beeping? Its to the point he's going to return the coach back to the dealer. Its a freightliner chassis if that makes a difference. Model 3543. Thanks!

You should be able to go into the settings on the dash and turn it off. You might have to use the dash radio screen, choose mobile eye and then turn everything off on that screen. One of these options should allow you to turn that off or disable the alarm.

On my 2020 London Aire Freightliner I can not turn it off. I hate the collision avoidance system .

On my Dutch Star it only beeps if I am too damn close in a large vehicle that does not handle like a sports car

Yeah, these beasts don't stop on a dime.

Better fuel economy if you keep a safe distance. Or just use the adaptive cruise.

That’s a bummer. I haven’t driven with him in the Motorhome but he doesn’t sound like he’s being too aggressive. We’re contemplating disabling the speaker in the dash control unit which seems pretty overkill but if he’s gonna sell the coach over it….

I have the same system on my 2021 Essex. There is no way to disable the forward collision warning, however, I only get the beeps when i’m too close behind the car in front of me. Now there is a high/med/low sensitivity setting (per the manual) but I have not located it. On low sensitivity it doesnt beep until you are very close.

It also beeps if another car gets in front of you (which happens all the time). I can’t avoid that, but I do try to stay way far behind the person in front of me.

Hate to see you return the coach! Maybe just turn up the radio

Our 2022 DS 4369 ( Freightliner)has that same beep beep beep. I get it if someone slows up or cuts in front. It is a pain when you’re in close traffic. I get it it’s a safety feature. Just wish we could tone down the beep. Also it tends to pick up tractor trailers that are on the side r or l due to the wide beam on the collision avoidance system. I wouldn’t get rid of a coach over it, just appreciate a fix for the volume.

yeah honestly I have no personal experience with it. He sold me his 2018 thor tuscany (which also had a ton of issues he fixed) and I feel bad because I know he kinda regrets getting rid of it because of all the issues he's having with his Newmar.

I have seen people put a piece of black (opaque) tape on the windshield to block/cover the sensor. Seems to shut it right down. Good luck.

Being family and all I would say it would be best to swap RVs even steven. Problem solved.

We have a 2020 new aire on the freightliner chasis. I don’t think there’s a way to disable it but I thought the sensitivity of it was based off of the settings for the adaptive cruise control. Those settings can be found in the little screen at the bottom of the instrument panel and controlled with the buttons on the steering wheel. Perhaps adjusting the sensitivity/distance could help a little.

Just disconnect or cut the wires to the beeper. Done.

Those things are a royal PITA. Obviously they are designed by people who never actually drive anything.

Or if he'd like a great 2018 Class C that's pretty much bug-free now with no collision avoidance technology, I'll trade for that New Aire and toss in a full tank of gas too!
