Actual Length of LADP

I would like to know if anyone has an accurate measurement of a 2015+ LADP. The specs call for it to be 44'11". I have a 48' garage, that when the doors are closed leaves me 46' 4" of space inside, between the garage doors.

Before you ask why is it so small...well, the answer is I didn't ever dream of a 45' coach when I built it for my 35' 5th wheel. I did a quick search on a prevost bus, and found that they were 45' and said that would be the largest I would ever own, and left it at that.

What I didn't consider is things like Mirrors, Tow bars, and the actual need to walk around in the garage between the door side and the water bay.

My current 43' DSDP is 42'9". I can safely keep my tow bar attached, my mirrors positioned as I need, and walk around the coach with the doors down. It is a bit cramped, but it is possible. Losing the 2'2" will force me to choose between walking around front or back, and I will have to be much better about positioning it, but it is still doable.

I am concerned that the 44'11" may not be taking into account the extremes of the footprint though, and would like any real world numbers if they are available.

Thanks!

Sorry, can't answer your exact question, but I can offer my experience. Our coach (Phaeton 42LH) is the exact length that the specs lists in our Owner's Manual (43'-11"). Our rv garage has an inside dimension of 48'-8" x 28'-8". This does allow us to have sufficient room in front and back to walk around the coach, have all the slides open, and also be able to access and/or pull out storage trays.

However, I did not take into consideration the pull out generator in the front for service while in the garage. So I have to remove my entire tow bar assembly and move the coach back about a foot so that I can service the generator. This, of course, limits my ability to walk around the rear of the coach.

So, my point is that assuming you park the coach forward and if you want to service your generator (which you didn't mention at all in your post), you'll want to remove the tow bar and park the coach as close to the door as you can and only walk around the front of the coach.

Hope this helps

Ron

The 44'11'' is the length of the box not counting the additional length of the mirrors. I think the drivers mirrors add 2 to 3 foot to the coach.

Would it be bad to continuously loosen the mirror to adjust it back for garage and then tighten when it goes forward again? I am thinking that is the only way to get it in the garage. I would most likely keep the driver side back all the time but the passenger side would have to be moved

Can't think of any reason that any harm would come from loosing a bolt and then re-tightening. Use a permanent marker of your choice, put a small mark on both sections, (Inside rear location?) and then just rotate back till they line up, tighten bolt.

I couldn't think of a reason either. The worst would be if I loosen too much and it falls!

Ronnie,

Don't forget about the "new stacker trailer" ... it needs a home to stay in too!

Ya I built a place for that already. It's barn doesn't have sewer hookups like the garage does, so not a good place for the Rv.

On our 04 Essex the mirrors don't come all the way around. There is movement but won't go all the way to the back. It little work but the mirrors do come off.

Here are the dimensions of my 2015 LADP.
I ran a string line across the mirrors and a line down to the floor. The mirrors are only 4 1/2"
ahead of the front cap measured at the license plate. The mirrors might be moved toward the front windshield as the passenger side might not let the door open.
The length of the rear coach is 45' 3"
The length of the exhaust tip is 45' 7"
The length to the total back of tow bar is 46'
It could be possible to move the mirrors back to front of front cap but I don't know if the width would still be legal and if you could see from your seat position.
So if you could eliminate the front mirrors it looks like it would be 45' 2 1/2".
Hope this helps

4" sure don't seem like much room at all. Really wish I had thought of this before I built

Plenty of room. Hang a plumb bob so that it just touches when your in the perfect position.
