Add 12v to 2016 Newmar Baystar
Need to add another 12v type connection (cigarette lighter) to dash of 2016 Newmar Baystar. Has anyone done this? Did you access the power from the fuse box under the dash? Looking for some advice on how to do this. TIA

Assuming you're powering a USB charger or similar, just add it to any 10 or 15A circuit that seems lightly loaded, and use 14g stranded wire. Run the ground to a ground bus nearby, or a frame ground.
If you're trying to power an inverter, hair dryer, or toaster, DON'T. Power those off of something bigger than a cigarette lighter plug.
I thought about adding USB ports, but decided on a few cig lighter plugs instead, maybe that will stay standard for longer than USB? in any case, I'll update again if I'm wrong.

You can but a dual 12v plug.
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=dual+12v+...s_ts-doa-p_1_9
I used on in my 2016 BSS and it worked well.

On the front dash already have two cigarette plugs but I use a dongle type splitter that allows for two plugs, that works for small loads.
Also added a separate 2 plug on the left side of the steering wheel to be able to plug in a tablet for engine monitoring. In this case I came off the (+) lug on the front firewall and used an inline fuse.
Added a USB/Cigarette lighter and voltage display in the bedroom. I already had a cigarette plug but it was not convenient so I just wired it into that and mounted it on the side of the bedroom cabinet. This was a fused circuit so didn't have to put a fuse
So there is more then one way to skin a cat.

I added this instead which gave me 3 12VDC sockets and an additional 5 USB sockets. Best part is each outlet can be turned on and off with a push button or the entire thing via a master switch. This gave me control over the power of each plugged in device.

Is your cigarette lighter connected directly to your battery instead of fuse box?

Fused. And more of a 12VDC socket than an actual cigarette lighter socket. Socket is located on the drivers wall trim down near the footwell next to a circular USB outlet for the radio. Direct connect to the battery would be very dangerous and you always want the fuse as close to the source of power (i.e. the battery or power distribution blocks) as possible. That said I believe the connector that plugs into the lighter socket is also fused for some redundancy and rated lower to blow before the main socket fuse would.
If you don't have a socket available, there is this direct wired version: https://www.amazon.com/Terminals-Cig.../dp/B0BGL458WD
However, it lacks the ability to turn each individual socket off and on via push button or toggle. Note also that it does contain an inline fuse though it does violate the "as close to the source of power" rule of thumb... Where the fuse is placed it protects if the device shorts or somthing plugs into it shorts, but it fails to handle the case where the wires leading up to the device chaff and then short out before getting to the fuse.
Best,
-Mark

Another option I use is the 110V receptacle right behind the drivers seat. It's powered by the inverter all the time on my coach. I just use a USB charger with cable(s) to run 12V power to the area left of the driver.
