Decorative cover install

A member asked how the interior cover is installed...

I used four drywall screws; recessed into the corners of the inner trim. Drill pilot holes into the AC's base plate. Sits nice and snug.

If you wire these through the EMS relay, and the relay is closed (i.e. load needs to be shed), then 12 volts is now present on the other yellow wire. The controller senses the 12 volts and this causes the AC to shut down.

I've reviewed the Furrion docs and don't see a similar feature. I guess you could wire the EMS's relay to a 120V AC 20 Amp relay and just cut the AC's power?
Chris, thanks again for your detailed explanation on the EMS/PCS system and shedding the Middle AC. I would have never done it if you didn't point out those wires and the way the system works.

Like you mentioned on my Furrion using the Furrion controller it doesn't have those two yellow wires. But there is a simple way to shed power to the Furrion by using those two brown wires from the PCS system. I used 12 VDC from the fuse block next to the AC fuse panel and did this to a normally closed 12 VDC relay:

+12 VDC to one brown wire
The other brown wire to the +terminal of the 12VDC relay
A ground wire from the 12 VDC block to the - terminal of the 12 VDC relay

The other two terminals of the relay are both for the ground wire of the thermostat, so when the shedding is needed, the PCS relay closes, sending 12 VDC to the new added relay which opens it's contacts and opens the ground to the thermostat which turns off the Furrion.

Actually very simple to do for anyone using the Furrion controller and wants to have their PCS system shed if needed.

Upgraded the mounting...

To hold the AC in place, and ensure a watertight seal, the manual calls for the bolts holding the baseplate to the roof top AC unit to be tightened to 40-50 inch lbs.

With thunderstorms forecasted in the next 24 hours, I didn't want to find out if the nylon spacers I'd used to stiffen up the ceiling had allowed me to compress the seal sufficiently to make it water tight.

A quick trip to Home Depot; and now I have C Channel 0.5" on one side, and 0.75" on the other three sides. One side of the vent is adjacent to a ceiling join; things slim down there to run into the joint; hence the 0.5" C Channel.

Everything is snug, and no problem tightening to the required #s.

From the manual : "Evenly tighten the four bolts to a torque of 40 to 50 inch pounds. This will compress the roof gasket to approximately 1/2”

FWIW, the 40-50 inch lb. is for A/C units that are "conventionally" bolted from the bottom. That is approximately the torque an average person could apply using one hand and a handheld nut driver (like a screwdriver).

Top bolted units typically use lag bolts and the torque spec is invalid.

TO Clarify, Newmar Dometic vs this Furrion install:
Newmar bolts their Domectic AC units to the ROOF from the top of the unit itself. This AC Unit IS NOT done that way. The interior plate has four long thin bolts, 8 inches long that go through the bottom plate and into the base of the AC Unit. Only 40 to 50 inch pounds of torque, repeat INCH pounds are needed to compress the AC Unit down 1/2 inch to the roof. It works like a sandwich, NOT a direct bolt to ceiling.
