Added Insulation Option?

In a previous thread there was mention of a "added insulation option". This was a suggested feature for FT use. I've looked through all the brochures of DSDP and MADP models I am interested in and don't seen to find this listed.

So, a few questions about this subject:

1. It appears that all of the DPs have similar or same R values through out the coach lines. Does anyone see/know whether my observations are correct?

2. If added insulation is an available option, how would that be identified?

3. While our intent is to run away from the cold, it certainly is possible to be caught in "unfriendly" temps. Are Newmar water bays heated by normal furnace activity and/or are do they have dedicated heating systems? (Optional or standard in the later case?)

Thanks in advance?

The added insulation option in my view was during the 90's on older coach's I had owned.
The coach's made today if you see them built have as much or more than what was installed in older coach's.

Any more insulation added to the roof or walls would defeat the "R" value of them.
Looking through the latest options lists do not mention the option as you said.
The insulation is not only for heat retention but for a better cooling coach in the hot summer months.

I believe it is now only an option on Ventana and down.

There is no other place to add more.

I added the insulation package to the Ventana I ordered in October. On the options sheet it's listed under "Construction Features" along with mechanical lock arms, one piece molded fiberglass roof, and power baggage door lock package. Polar Pak R19 batten insulation in roof: $203.00

I also ordered the polar pak insulation for the Ventana and it is added to the roof only. Not really sure if this option was the primary reason, but I can not even hear the AC running when the 2 units are on.

I wonder if insulations have a different density for a higher "R" value?

This is correct. An option on Ventana and lower but standard on Dutch Star and higher. Well worth having under all heating and cooling conditions. The quiet comments are additional incentive to have it. Roof is R-19 with top insulation.

It was an option on the 2000 and 2002 DSDP's. We didn't know about it when we ordered the 2000. The salesman we had for the 2002 happened to mention it as it wasn't even on the option sheet. Cost was about $100 and VERY WELL worth it!
