After 5 years our air leak has been found and fixed.

For the last 5 years we have had a air leak issue that has been very tough to find. I have spent over 20 hours over that period of time plus we have had the 04 Essex at 2 excellent service centers with out being able to find the leak. Colton Truck Terminal and the Spartan service in Charlotte have check the coach for leaks 3 times at each service center without finding the leak. Within 18 hours we would loss almost all the air in the system. Replaced the air drier because it had a major air leak and after replacing the air drier no more leaks. I know many Newmar and Spartan owners have been chasing air leaks but no body could find this air drier leak and would suggest other owners with air leaks check out their air drier. Very happy camper after replacing air drier and no more air leaks. Not talking about the air drier filter but the complete air drier.

I know that is frustrating. I have freightlner xc chassis. After 24 hrs right side only would leak down. Had service done and replace entire air dryer with new
and no more right side leak down.

I may need to go that route myself. I occasionaly hear my dryer purge air, up to several hours after shutting down the engine!

Thank you for sharing. Was the air drier leak found by using soapy water OR ________________?

In my case never found with bubbles. Just total replacement of air dryer. And issue went away.

The air drier was check by myself and at both service centers. The air drier was leaking real bad after I started the engine. You didn't need to use soap water with this big air leak. It was leaking from a port next to the pressure release valve on the bottom of air drier. Don't feel to bad about not finding the problem after taking it to 2 good Spartan service centers and they couldn't find the problem. Spent over 2,500$ over the 5 years trying to find the air leak problem.

My coach has been diagnosed with a leaking air dryer too. Did you put the new one on yourself or did you have a service center do it? What does it cost to replace an air dryer?

Thanks

I did it myself and since it is a Spartan chassis easy to get to. Cost 386$ bot could have got it from Amazon for about 200$ but didn't have time. 2 hours from start to finish. I am glad the air drier had a major leak which that lead to replacing it and also repair air leak issue for the last 5 years.

Guess we got lucky! Our 2002 DSDP never had any leaks even though the air dryer had never been serviced other than to clean it when I replaced the cartridge. Even when we traded the MH off last year it was still holding air fine for several weeks at a time.

Our MADP goes down on the backend after a day or so (sometimes quicker sometimes longer). The front seems to stay up pretty well. Is this likely a dryer issue? Is there one for front and one for rear? My front air gauge is almost always at normal range at startup but the alarm comes on for the rear for 15-20 seconds.

I replaced my dryer myself and is a piece of cake. The dryer had 4 bolts and two lines with an electrical connection. CARQUEST had it for 340.00 new. Be sure to release all the air in system before attempting to change.

Excuse my ignorance and by the way this is first time posting a question but where is the air dryer located. I have a 2005 Kountry Start 3909 Spartan chassis and I'm having the leak down issue on the front of my coach so I'm thinking it's probably the air dryer issue also.

The air drier on your Spartan chassis is in service center behind the passengers side rear tire. There should be a cover on the service center area and your fuel filter should also be there. Remember I am not saying your air drier is your air leak but if you have checked all other air lines and find no air leaks yet you are losing a lot o fair over a 12 plus hour period you might have a fault air drier and after 5 years this is what it turned out to on our Essex.
