After SF 637 - Dashbard died

Of course the morning we are scheduled to leave for a 2 week trip. Dead dash. Just picked up after having all the other work done including SF 637 which was supposed to resolve this. I didn’t have any dash issues previously.

Unload coach, drive back to Freightliner. No idea when they can look at it.

DW has had about enough of cancelled trips due to coach not working for one reason or another.

Apparently we got a bad Viper module from the supplier, that created the OptiView symptom the recall was supposed to fix - dead dash. Seems to be working again. We'll see.

I saw the price of these modules. Crazy expensive. Thankfully, a warranty item even though we lost two weeks of our vacation.

Not sure why we just don't use gauge's that have worked for years. Freightliner is not Tesla...

Two Viper modules later. All is well and the dash works with benefits I did not expect. Crazy expensive module btw, glad it was warranty.

1: The safety guidance system now works and you don't have to mess with it when someone cuts in front of you etc.
2: The buzzer is way less annoying, and I'm ok with it.
3. I need to verify, but I think the DTE is based on actual. Its certainly not 4 mpg like it was.

Something that you may not know is that DTE is based on your currently selected TRIP A or TRIP B and the values accumlated there.

For instance: I start my road trip I reset Trip A. DTE is now "gaining" as I accumlate miles.

Each time I refill the tank, I reset Trip B.

If I switch to Trip A after 200 miles have accumulated, it remains very accurate as it is measures the average MPG for the trip.

Switching back to Trip B, show the MPG for this tank. Useful if this particular leg is more mountain climbing, etc. The DTE will adjust based on which trip is selected and uses the average MPG to determine the value.
