Air Bag Interlocks

I've got a 2005 Dutch Star. I'm a little concerned about the ground clearance of my filter shroud so I wanted to make sure that the air bags were inflated to maximum before I pulled out of my spot. I ran the engine with slides and jacks deployed but could discern no chassis rise although air pressure was good. Just wondered if anyone knew of the interlocks involved. Do the jacks and slides need to be retracted for them to inflate? Or must the parking brake be released or unit put in gear for them to inflate?

Thanks for your comments.

Hi GScherrer,
There are no interlocks to keep the DSDP from rising to ride height when the engine is on. Most likely, the chassis is sitting in a "dead zone". That is when the chassis height is not calling for more air to enter the bags. If you were to retract the jacks (recommend retracting the slides just to keep everything square) the chassis would settle down onto the rubber stops. This would put the chassis in a position to call for air to be put into the bags.

One can start the engine and then retract the jacks. The coach will go down and then rise to ride height.
