Air Conditioner Replacement

I can find old threads, but nothing recent on this issue. Im looking for feedback on those that have replaced their AC units. I still have the original Penguin on the front of my RV and really don't want to be on a trip and have it fail on me, so I want to put a matching Penguin II in the front.

Am I correct in the following assumptions:
- If I order a 15k heat pump penguin II unit, it will fit with the additional gasket from Newmar?
- The rear unit on the coach was replaced and is currently a low profile penguin II, so they must have used the conversion board to keep the old thermostat. We are not fans of the old thermostat, so I would likely upgrade to the new one. Is there anything complex about this?

Is there anything else I am missing. I checked with Newmar and their price for the unit is about 50% higher than other retailers. Don't know that I can do that markup, so I want to make sure I purchase the correct one and other supplies.

As usual, appreciate the help.

We recently had one of our 1600w Duo-Therms go out. I believe these are very similar if not identical to Penguins under the cover. We have the Duo-Therm Comfort control thermostats. We happened to be near a RV service in Brenda AZ who has helped us before so we stopped in. He said that our Thermostat would not work with the newer units because they all have a module in them that needs the new one. He was able to supply a modern AC without module and fit an older style module use the old thermostat.

I say this simply by way of suggesting talking to several authorized installers in your area who might tell you what the Big Guys won't. He also charged a lot less for labor. Total just shy or $1500.00 installed.

Air Conditioner Replacement

We had an A/C unit go out last year and had the older thermostat. I chose to get the board to convert the new Penguin 13.5 so it would be compatible with the older thermostat and existing A/C unit.
Was a pretty easy install.
