Air filter indicator issue

Recently I noticed the air filter indicator on my '04 DSDP was about half way up the glass so I decided to replace it. I bought a Wix filter and installed it before I made a trip a couple of months ago. I made that trip and upon return while checking oil and other fluids I noticed the indicator was in the red. I reset it and thought no more but I made a quick 130 mile round trip to a casino for the weekend and when I returned I found it showing in the red again. I'm hoping it's the indicator since this filter cannot be clogged in a little over 700 miles. Anyone else see issues with the indicator giving a false reading?

Hi - Those filter indicators are notoriously inaccurate. Assuming that you have replaced with the correct filter and that you don't drive in a sandy, dusty desert it would be hard to clog a filter that quickly. Make sure you do have the right filter as some exit the filtered air via the center of the filter and some take in the unfiltered air via the center of the filter. Also remember that the indicator holds at the highest value so if you were going uphill at full throttle that is what it would hold.

I believe you would know by how the engine responds if the filter was truly clogged.
