Air intake

I have a 2002 Kounty Star DP. I was wondering if anybody knows the structure of the air intake on the back left side of MH. My question is- when it rains how does the water get preempted from going in to the filter.

My DS has the intake on the drivers side rear corner at the top. Some how the intake I believe is built into the side wall and the tubing routes it to the engine. As far as for when it's raining I'm not sure but in the air cleaner housing at the bottom is a little rubber vent that lets out the rain I think. Jim

My KSDP intake is on the upper left side of the rear cap. The filter housing has some holes that would allow water to drain if it would make it that far, but I guess the intake is desiged to let water out before going in the flex hose.

On our 04 Essex I built a scope around the air intake to get more air and have had it on for 3 years and have never had a problem with water getting into air filter. There is a open area before the air goes to the air cleaner were the water will drain before getting into air filter. We have been in alot of heavy rain back east and as I said no problem with rain getting into air cleaner.

If you take a light and look into air intake opening in rear cap you'll see there is a bottom built just below the screened opening. In that bottom there is a trough with a rubber hose to drain off any water before it gets into the air intake pipe.

That's the way it's built on a 2000 DS. I would assume all Newmars have a similar system.

Thanks, I assumed something along that line.
