Air release screams :

2019 DS 4018: When hitting auto level the passenger rear just screams and squeals as the air is released and coach is lowered.
It isn’t the jack making the noise.
Is the air system Newmar, Freightliner or HWH and any ideas on what would make all the noise while air is released?

When you dump your air, go back to where you hear the air releasing and check the exhaust on the dump valve for a obstruction! Like a bent air line, mud dauber nest in the port, something like that! Rail!

This has been a pet peeve of DW since we got it...I spoke to Freightliner in Gafney and they said it is due to the rubber cover where the air is released. It is there to prevent bugs/dauber/etc. from blocking it but can be noisy at times. They said I could spray some lubricating in there and it would help, but I cannot seem to reach it.

Maybe in my next trip to Freightliner I can have them do it.

Interested in what others think.

This happened on our old rig after Freightliner replaced our dump valve. They had a "silencer" that they then installed which quieted down the sound to what I had previously.

Here's the contact info for azpete (Paul Maddox)
Phone: 602-549-3638
Email: pfmaddox@att.net

Paul works for HWH and is always ready to help us out. He isn't soliciting work, he just helps us out.

He even offered to stop by on his way home form FL to help me with a problem in my jacks - got it fixed thanks to him so he didn't have to come by.

Stay safe - Richard

I haven’t yet, I added to my list of
warranty items at Nappanee, now moved back to early July.

My 2015 does the same thing. I use it as my "Hello" entrance to a new campsite!

My next service in Gafney is in January...maybe I can get them to do something. They had suggested spraying Super Lube into the rubber covering where the air is releases to quiet it down... But i cannot get to it. Probably be far easier from underneath.

We will see.

I had Newmar take a look at this or should I say a listen to this while in Nappanee a couple weeks ago.
They explained that there was a flapper valve to keep dirt out and the sound I was experiencing was totally normal [emoji3061]
Be interested on what Gaffney would say.

They said the same. The rubber covering I mentioned is the same flap you are referencing.

I had Gafney listen and they agree it was normal. I wish there was a way to make it quieter.... change the cover from rubber to something more breathable?

Mine used to really be loud and the DW was always startled by it. So I started pushing the air horn button right before I released the air bags to warn her. But now, it doesn't seem as loud as it used to
