Air Suspension Question

Just bought an '03 Dutch Star and brought it home. Everything is fine other then when I park it, after a few minutes the front end drops down as if I had pushed the button to drain the air from all bags. However, I don't touch a thing and, in fact, was standing outside when it did this. You can tell it is the bags deflating to drop it down.

The prior owner had new air valves (not sure that is the right name) installed front and back within the past month due to a leak in one of them.

Any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong??

Thanks,
Jim

I have a 2002 and I needed new valves installed they were stuck open. I suspect either he did not do it or it was done wrong. After the new valves were installed it stays up for quite awhile.

You are not doing anything wrong. There is a big leak, probably in the rear of MH. The front requires more pressure than the rear, that is why the front drops first. When mine did this I could hear air leaking standing by left rear tires. ride height valve leaking. Replaced valve and it now holds for almost a week. Just because someone replaced parts does not mean they replaced the right parts or that there is not still leaks at the lines that were disconnected. With that quick of drop (leak) it should not be difficult to find. Don't crawl under mh without proper support, it can crush you when it comes down.

Jim....You've got a leak(s) that you'll have to find and repair. I'm a big guy, so I don't fit under my motor home when it's aired down, but can when it's aired up. Since this isn't safe, I made up ramps out of 2"x8"s stacked three tall so that I could run the coach up on the ramps for work. With air in the coach, it gives me a lot of room, if the coach drops, there is still enough room for me without being crushed with the ramps in place.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. When I get back in town later this week I'll try the soap solution after making sure all safety issues are covered.

I'll report back to you.

It seems that there is an exhaust port on the back ride height valve and air was escaping out of there. When this happens the front end goes down. Played with it awhile but no joy so took it to a shop. They tried and tried to get it to drop with no luck.
Maybe, since the unit had set for many months without being driven, the valve was sticking and after driving it awhile it has freed itself. Not sure but right now the issue is gone.
