So simple an answer why didn't I think of that the 20amp fuse is marked on the fuse panel so not hard to identify. Same fuse supplies 12 volts to both control units.
BIG THANKS to Harpmaker and 2001 Gas DS.

All kiding aside, the problem is RFI. What you might try is a ferrite core on both the positive and negative leads to the controller. You will need to find one that will take a turn of #10 wire size. This will usually shunt out the RFI from the controller. If it's the bedroom slide, look under the bed for the motor and the controller should be close by, if not have the tech show you where it is. Now you use to be able to buy these at Radio Shack, but they seem to be getting out of that end of the business. If you have a Ham Radio person close by, talk with him. He will have the knowledge to fix the problem. Good Luck.

It can happen to the livingroom slide as well, it happen to our coach while we were in Florida in December, the slide came in while we were at dinner, crushing the desk dinette, one of the folding chair, splitting the wood around the slide, and damaging two ceiling panels. Ed.S

What slide systems do the units in question use? You would think the problem would happen to any system of the same make.

HWH? Something else?

Tim, the slides operate using 12v electric motors turning tooth driven gears into slots on rails, a control unit that senses the increase in amp draw when slide walls hit the inside or outside walls to stop motor..
ED, I notice that you have a 05 coach the same year as UDon's DP, I wonder what they have changed in the control unit.
How did they fix yours or will it possibly happen again.
In the 8 years of owning Newmars this is the first year I have heard this happening on 05's.

This has happened to quite a number of 2005 Newmar's that have the Power Locks, which was an option for the 2005 models, Newmar replaced the controllers. Newmar went to a different controller if you ordered your unit with the Power Locks, you didn't have to be near a airport for this occurrence to happen it could be as common as a garage door opener to trigger slide to activate. THANKS ED for your follow up all 05 owners should look into problem if they have power locks, the control units must have a serial# to check with Newmar to see if they may have a problem with their control unit.

Radio frequency interference (RFI) issues can be difficult to track down and / or resolve.

I think the suggestion to remove the fuse or add a switch to the power circuit would be the easiest and cheapest fix.

I think a on off switch in line withthe power switch would be the answer. All of the "American" coaches have them standard. (A switch with a key you can remove) Maybe that is one of the reasons they have the key switch.....
