NWIP (Bill and Lisa), Excited to read your next entry. Where are y'all? I'm sitting in Eagle River, AK at my house working on projects with the motorhome. We got a baggage door latch fixed today, a piece of trim installed, the basement cleaned out and vacumed. Felt like a successful day. Nice sunshine and warmer temps here today. That was nice for a change, but rain expected any minute.
Our nice little Eagle River Campground is still closed I believe. Because of road damage from the November Earthquake. If y'all get this way and would like to meet for dinner or drinks, we'd love to meet you. Lets us know.

Left Dawson City Sunday headed to Tok via TOTWH. Wasn’t too dusty as it had rained on Friday/Saturday and overall was in pretty good shape as it is early in the season. We stayed at Walker Fork BLM prior to getting to Chicken, road was a little worse once you left Jack Wade.
Scenery was spectacular and glad we went this route but I have had enough of gravel roads for awhile. MH/toad faired good as we took it slow.
Went on to Chicken via toad (15 miles) had some pie and then returned to BLM campground. Nice campground but a little tight with overhanging trees.
This morning we left campground and continued to Tok, AK where we are staying at Tok RV Village. WiFi here is virtually useless, AT&T shows 2 bars, Verizon 2 bars on MiFi but very slow. Road from Chicken to Tok was fair with areas of gravel road, by the time we got to AK 2 the last 10 miles into Tok I thought I was speeding at 55mph. I think we averaged about 35 mph overall.
I have downloaded a few pictures but will wait on others until better internet.

We are headed to Valdez once we leave Tok, then probably Glenn Highway after that and would love to meet up. Will keep you posted on the timing but probably early next week.
Tomorrow is cleanup day so I hope I’m as successful in accomplishing as much as you did today

When the state initially announced the closure of the Eagle River Campground they estimated the reopening would be mid-June. We're looking forward to that ourselves.

Did you use your bikes much? All that dirt can't be good for them. Even a bike cover won't protect them. It might be best to leave them at home the next time.

Good morning,
We seldom used our bikes on our trip to Alaska, so we probably will leave them home on our return trip. It seems that other people have taken their rearguard off too with good results, so I will keep that in mind for our trip back as well.
NWIP - I love reading about your trip. The pictures are beautiful. Keep'em coming!

Have been following your posts and appreciate all the info. We are gassed, loaded and will leave tomorrow morning from Utah for our trip to Alaska. We are really excited to get going in our Alante 31V motor home. Planning on 2-1/2 months for the Alaska trip with no advance reservations except the ferry from Skagway to Haines. Once we exit Canada at Glacier we will head east to Minnesota for another month.

You’ll enjoy the trip and don’t rush thru Canada, there is gorgeous scenery and a lot of wildlife.

We left Walker Fork BLM and headed to Tok, arriving Monday. Time here has been spent mostly cleaning things up, inside and out. Road from Chicken to Tok is paved but not in great shape.
Staying at Tok Village RV which is biggest in Tok and they have an RV wash for fee. WiFi is free but limited to 200mb per day. AT&T, Verizon is spotty for data and cable is 8 channels.
First 2 pics are at Walker Fork, then Chicken and MH cleaned after all the dirt roads. Amazing where dust can go.
Tomorrow heading towards Valdez and will probably spend a night or 2 in Payson Lake BLM campground on the way.

Alaska 2019
I dealt with those guys at that Peterbilt a couple of years ago when I got a check-engine light. They are awesome. They really helped me out. We were on our way to Tok that day, headed home. They got us on our way with hardly any delay.

We left Tok this morning headed to Valdez with a stop at Dry Creek Recreation Area for a night or 2 of dry camping.
Road on Tok cutoff is what people predicted, poor. There is a big construction zone starting at 50mm that they say last 12 miles, in fact road is in bad shape beyond construction zone. We knew all this going in but decided to go this route anyway, just take it slow. Our average speed was 35-40 mph.
Scenery was great with the Wrangell mountain range in the distance.
