I was once told that if you pull into a CG with a dirty MH but have shiny wheels and tires no one will notice the dirt on the coach. Just saying!

I think so. Can't imagine how a coach would look with 22.5 inch painted wheels

I wish I would have taken a picture of Joey Logano's Newell when I was at the Newell factory last month. Black anodized rims on a 90% black coach. They looked horrible.

They are standard on my Ventana. Can't imagine they are not standard on the DS. Where did you get this idea they are optional?

They are standard as far as I know. Came on my DS without ordering any special for them

alcoa wheels

I have a 20021 DSDP. IT has steel wheels. Some time ago I got tooo close to a culvert and it had a sharp piece of steel sticking out it cut the tire but it bent the wheel as well. Call to get a tire replace and told them the rim appeared to be bent. Well the tech came took off the tire and examined the rim. Got a large piece of leather and a very large hammer and went to work on the rim. Put the tire on and away I went. That was over 17,000 miles ago on that rim and still going.

Try that with a Alcoa rim

Just saying

Since there is no option to downgrade to steel wheels. not really relevant.

Steel wheels are covered with "simulators", ie. stainless wheel covers... look fine, but not as nice as aluminum.

Just to clarify, some people call all polished rims on motor homes Alcoa's. Alcoa is a brand, like Kleenex. Unless things have changed, Newmar uses Accuride wheels on at least the Dutch Star. The Accurides come two ways, coated and uncoated.

I don't know what difference it would make to special order Alcoa rims versus the Accurides that come standard, unless I'm missing something. They're both aluminum rims. They do have different hole designs. Maybe just a preference?

My previous coach came with the uncoated Accuride rims. Once I learned how to polish them correctly, I loved them. They were beautiful when polished. A little maintenance on them a few times a year kept them looking nice. My Dutch Star has the coated Accurides. I really liked that idea since there were now six rims to polish with my tag. The only issue is......the coated Accurides only look really shiny when they're wet. I'm very finicky and REALLY like the look of the uncoated rims, highly polished, better than the coated. If it wasn't such a pain to remove the coating, I would be willing to go back to polishing rims a few times a year.
