tabrewer I just looked at your photo again and thought I’d ask you to double check your rear awning’s center bracket placement. It looks to be pretty close to centered, if not closer to the rear.
The center arm (Girard calls it a right arm) should be closer to the front of that awning. Therefore, the bracket should be forward of center a lot more than your photo shows.
Is it, in fact, directly behind that arm?

Steve
My rear awning is only 15' with 2 arms and according to the install PDF you posted... the middle brace should be centered on awnings with only 2 arms.

I removed the fan housing. I can not see clearly to the edge, but as far as I can see, there is only balsa wood.Unless the brace is on top of the balsa wood, there is no way it is deep enough for the support housing.

Thanks for posting this. I got lucky mine are in the correct spot. I have 6 solar panels on that side, that would be a pain.

OP: End of my information
As the OP on this important matter, I will not be adding further discussion on this topic on this thread. There's just too much going on to be making multiple posts.
You'll have to search for this topic elsewhere.
Sorry.

Different awning, but ....Earlier this year I noticed my Girard entry door awning was not closing completely. Drove my 2018 DS 4018 to Girard where the helpful tech spent an hour and concluded Newmar had used the wrong mounting brackets. They would give me the correct brackets, but would have to charge me 4-5 hours labor to install as it required removal of interior cabinetry. Said they had told Newmar about this problem before but that Newmar would not cover the labor cost. Hoping the awning doesn't get worse over time!

You need to contact Newmar. They have a 5 year structural warranty, and the brackets are structure. Wrong bracket, means not attached to anything more than Balsa wood and fiberglass. That is a safety issue.

got on the roof and looked, and my brackets are "mostly" in the correct position....
the middle arms, on both the front, and rear awnings, are just in front of where the leading edge (edge towards the front of the coach) of the bracket falls....so the bracket is not behind the arm...the arm is just off the bracket...the brackets would both need to be shifted about 12" or so toward the front of the coach, for the arm to fall on the center of the bracket.....
they are not nearly as bad as the OP's coach, but it appears they are not 100% correct either....
