All Electric option and solar panels

With the all electric option, does the induction cook top run off the inverter/batt as well, or just of the shore/Gen power supply? how about heated floor or the oasis? or is that too much draw for these units? besides AC, what other elec items are restricted to shore/gen power? Trying to determine how many PV panels/watts would be sufficient. You know solar companies love to sell you the sun where a light bulb may be sufficient!!!
thank you.

AC, stove, oasis need shore/ gen only. I have 660 watts of solar which is enough to maintain the batteries on good florida sunny days, will need more in Alaska!

This may depend on the breed of the unit. On a 2015 Dutch Star 4369 the Microwave does the cook top does not. The Oasis runs off of diesel when off the grid but that is just fine. I don't know about heated floor but my guess is that it does not. The Frige does. Several wall plugs do as well.

You have to be more specific as to are you asking about a Ventana, Dutch Star, MA......... But the bottom line is there is only so much a 3 kw inverter can do.

Thank you for the information. This is for a LADP. so given the not so sunny northern lakes region, a 1200w should be more than sufficient with a 3k inverter. I am told on some units they have the mid AC optional to run of solar. but thats an addition of another 3k inverter and likely more batteries. perhaps a bit over kill at this point.

Could you send me more information on your solar system. Where did you get it? Cost? etc. Thanks

Solar panels are only going to put "juice" in the batteries. Then you need enough inverter capacity to turn 12 into 120 volts. A 2800 Magnum will only do so much. Now, the King adds another inverter with 8 more batts, wired to the middle rooftop air, along with a few more outlets. The problem here is the alternator is still the same 270 watt capacity as in similar coaches, so it's limited in how much juice is going into the battery bank. Don't believe it keeps up with electrical demands of an a/c running all day, so it takes more juice from the batts. Without running all the numbers, it would seem they should have added another alternator to keep up with instantaneous demand, ala Prevost units.

So, to the op questions. Newmar wires the washer/dryer, elec. cooktop, floor heat, dishwasher, basement refer/freezer, roof airs, water heater, and inverter to the 120 v source, either generator or pedestal. The water heater, of course, can also run on diesel, as can the basement refer/freezer run off the batteries. The coach builder decides on a limited number of units to run off the inverter, i.e., the refer, elec. outlets and the microwave. With the added solar capacity, a decision would have to be made, and used on all units, to add another inverter, dedicated to running more stuff off batteries. And, of course, what works on sunny days might not do so well at night. I think this adds too many complexities to the coach's operation and thus, the coach builder has decided to not offer this....not to mention the added cost, of course.

I believe in 2016 King Aire the alternator was upgrades to 350 amps? to support handling the middle AC along with a 2 inverter.
