I don't suppose there is anyone in the northern CA area who has a 4154 that we could come up to and look at? we can't find any at the dealers in this or the Reno area, we've only found them in the midwest or the east.

Thanks,

Tom

You might try Guaranty in Junction City Oregon as they are a newer full line Newmar dealer...not as close as you would like, but they might have or know of a unit in the West.

As far as I know they are a fine family owned VERY LARGE auto, trailer, motorhome dealership with facilities in Junction City and Coburg Oregon.
If you get serious about dealing with them send me a PM and I'll talk to a friend who is an indepedent sales person with contacts all over N Ca and S Oregon.

Tom - When I priced the Allstar 4159, it was right in line with the Dutchstar Price. I believe however, the 4159 has a more expensive base MSRP as it comes with the 400HP engine. I ran into the same problem you did as far as finding a coach at a dealer. I ended up locating two of the models I was looking for at a single dealer and made a one day flight out and back to look at both coaches side by side. It was worth the money to get a good feel of the coaches side by side. I would suggest you find a dealer or a couple of dealers close to each other with the models of interest and invest in a trip to check them both out before ordering.

We don't full-time, but we have 4 children and just completed a 3 week long journey in our 2007 ATM 4154. Neither my wife nor I are tall people so the lack of clearance in the back doesn't bug us, but it is kinda short back there.

However, what we do is put the kids in the back...the bunks and the queen...and sleep on the air mattress in the living quarters. We got the hide-a-bed couch and the queen air matress that came with it is great, certainly every bit as comfy as your average RV bed mattress. Sleeping on the hide-a-bed allows us to have access to the kitchen and living areas without having to tip-toe around sleeping children so we wouldn't be affected by the lack of head clearance even if we were taller. :-)

The bedroom size/height was the main reason I bought a Ventana. Maybe if I'd seen an Allstar bunk model in person, I might have bought one.

I love the 2 extra captains chairs with a table for the kids.

Well, we finally got to see a 4154 in person at the LaMesa RV show at Cal Expo (they're liquidating the Davis and San Bernadino locations' inventory as they are closing those locations. The room was a bit small, but nothing that mattered too much. We have gone ahead and bought the unit.

Hey, I was trying to convince a friend of mine to buy that coach, guess it's too late for him. But good for you, congratulations, it's a beautiful unit!

LaMesa has 2 other 4154s in there inventory. They are in southern California. There are also two 4154s out there - an '08 at R&S Sales in IL and an '07 in North Carolina at Howard RV.

Was your friend looking at the LaMesa one in Davis?

Ahh, maybe it's not too late for him afterall, I was under the impression La Mesa (Davis and San Bernardino) had only one 4154 left and that was the one in San Bern. Perhaps the one I wandered around in is not yours afterall.

We bought the one in Davis, which we understood to be from their southern cal location. I know from their website that they have 2 more 4154s (as of a couple of days ago). I think one of thoe might be from their San Bernadino location, so the unit you saw might still be there. The other two 4154s have MSRPs if 256 and 253 but you can't tell the upgrades because of the way LaMesa sets up their website. Hope this helps.

I just looked on LaMesa's website, they are still there. Do an advanced search using Class A Diesel, 2008-2009, 40 ft - 45ft, and the two 4154s will be the last two units with MSRPs of 257 and 253.

Yeah, the one I was pocking around in and telling my friend to jump on was stickered at $253,100, so it sounds like it's probably still there. I don't think my buddy's going to do anything though as he is just too upside down on his Holiday Rambler. If anyone is looking at 4154's, "off the record" word is that $160k would probably drive it away.
