Almost had a fire in my wires

I was smelling wire burning in my half bath. For two days trying to find where the smell was coming from. FinallyI called Pocono RV and they sent a tech on an emergency call. This is what he found it speaks for itself.

Those pictures are enough to chill me to my bones. You were very lucky that you've found the source before something horrible happened. I WILL check the lugs on the panel. Luck was with you on this one.

Those wires are connected to the main breakers for the water heater.

Ditto for me. I can see how vibration could cause the lugs to loosen. I will put that on my to-do list.

You must live right to have dodged that bullet.

2015 Dutch Star 4369 5,500 miles. Found this last week when I walked in to the mid bathroom, don't know exactly when it happened, we were at the Tampa rally two weeks ago. Noticed when we were there that the energy management gauge wasn't working but everything else seemed fine until we discovered this. Contacted Newmar and they got us in to North Trails the next day, that was last Wednesday. Hoping to get the coach back today, have been living in a hotel with the dogs and DW for a week and it is really getting old. So far both Newmar and North Trails have been very responsive in getting this repaired, will let you know how it all turns out.

Same rig, same panel, same result. Hopefully not trend setting. Hope your repair goes smoothly and you are back on the road soon.

Using a few drops of Blue Locktite on each connection helps in preventing any loosening of the connection from vibration in the future.

Wow! If these were cars it would be on the news and GM/Ford would be forced into a recall. Not good.

Propane add second hose for portable appliances

I have a 2016 Newmar Canyon Star 3710. I purchased a portable propane BBQ & fire pit.

Can i convert my current onboard tank so that these portable devices run off the onboard propane? I do not want to carry any portable propane tanks.

I hope Newmar sits their employees down that are responsible for electrical wiring and shows them these pictures. Last year an Essex burned in our rv park and the fire started in the bathroom. Not sure what the exact cause was and the people now have a new Entegra motorhome.

Pocono RV Jerry believes it was loose wires in the breaker box, so using Loctite sounds right. But he has not completed is full testing of the system.
