AMS Motors for 2011 Newmar Mountain Aire

I'm looking for information on how to order and replace, including part numbers, the front night curtain motor on my MA. I saw that you could order the motors through COMNET now, does anyone know if that is true? Last time I had to order the entire shade unit at $1700. Seems that we should be able to get the friggin part that's bad, and nothing else. I know everyone likes to make money but come on Automotion and Newmar, help your customers out with what they need after the sale.

Thanks any and all.

When one died on our Revolution, of the exact same year/vintage, I went on-line to the Auto Motion web site and was able to find an authorized dealer/installer near us (at the time, central Florida).

No Automotion Motors for Sale

I contacted Newmar and they do not sell the Automotion shade motor separately. You have to spend $500-$2000 for the entire shade unit instead of a few hundred for a new motor. Is that customer service? I don't believe so. Newmar is such a good product why would they not dictate to the vendor to provide aftermarket replacement parts? My front privacy curtain is $934 to replace.

Classic Coach Works in Lakeland installed my shades . They are ( or were ) authorized dealers.

I just went through the same with AMS. Instead I took the motor out of the roller and found a wire inside was broke. Soldered the wire back together, reinstalled and it works like it should. Took an hour or so.

Maybe take the motor out of a side window sunshade that's cheaper to replace and switch the motors around that might be a way to get out of it a little cheaper

Good Luck

Another thought is to take the motor to a motor repair shop and see if they can repair it

I just Love This Forum

You know when your at the end of the information highway, just reach out and someone else has stumbled through this maze before. Thank you.

I wrote Newmar Corp., and expressed an owners frustration with having to pay way more than we should for an easily replaceable after market part. I know Newmar can flex its strength to possibly change this arangement in the future bewteen AMS and Newmar. These shades are installed on the most expensive products, so why can't we reasonably service them without having the spend up to five times the cost of the motor to replace the entire shade unit.

Seems a little greedy.

Thanks sir for all your suggestions. By the way my front curtain is $934 to replace, and the AMS motor (if we could get it), is about $100-200.

I received a call from Newmar customer service after voicing my concerns in an email to the company about Automotion Shades. They indicated that within a couple of weeks Newmar owners can begin purchasing replacement motors separately from either Automotion or Newmar. Yeah this is great news. Thank you Newmar for hearing your customers.
