Analysis of 2016 Dutch Star option changes
I compared the 2015 DS4018 order sheet to the 2016 DS4018 order sheet and am listing the changes below. Since other Dutch Star's use many of the same options, I would expect their order sheets to be similar:
Eliminations
- The "Power Flip Up Sofa in the bed base" has been eliminated
- The "Power incline retracting bed base" has been eliminated
- The "Black Handle" power baggage door locks, keyless entry door, etc. has been eliminated. Chrome is still an option.
- The Chrome Exterior mirrors for $718 have been eliminated. It is now a standard feature.
Additions
- LED lights installed below under door side slideouts is a new option for $413
- A new "Stainless Steel Trim Kit" option that includes chrome power baggage door locks, keyless entrance door touch pad and a door bell has been added for $4298. This looks exactly like the offered Chrome Power baggage locks option, but it adds Steel Trim (not explained) for another $1233.
- A $189 option for a hot water line to the generator area has been added
Changes
- The base price of the DS4018 has increased by $15,268. This is a 4.3% increase.
- The option for the "Maytag 22" refrigerator has been replaced with a "Maytag 19.7" refrigerator
- The price for appliance packages has dropped; the all-electric (induction) option is $320 less than last year
- Color/scheme options have changed, but the prices haven't
- The universal remote control is $28 more
- The "Winegard Digital Power Lift TV antenna" is now a "Winegard Rayzar Automatic Digital TV antenna" for the same price
- The "combination desk/dinette with free standing hidden leaf table, 2 fixed & 2 folding chairs" has increased in price by $100
- The "Door side Dormi sofa" has been replaced by a "Door side Fold & Tumble Sofa". No price change.
- The "Sleep number premier" air mattress is now a "Sleep number premier radius corner" air mattress. No price change.
- The additional Girard G2000 door side awning's price has been reduced by $184
- Customer pickup at the factory has increased by $601.

What about the passive tag axel, what is the cost of the option? I can only see so far that the London Aire comes with the Freigtliner and a $12,000.00 option to upgrade to a Spartan system.

I believe that passive steering on the tag axle is standard.

A salesman at Independence RV told me that they have been ordering them on most of their coaches because people want them in front of the coach so it's easier to clean the RV, windshield, and (I would guess) other things like your toad.

Mike,
The first thread had a 40'; I thought this should mean TAG is optional due to 40', as I just learned 40' and 43' are Tag axels only; just 37' are without tags.
On another OP, OP stated $45,000.00 to add Tag on a 40' Ventena. That was my orginal question, just not worded right? Still would like to verify the $45,000.00.

Wagonmaster - I've seen nothing at all, even in the new detail added by Steinbring, about them changing the size of the black tank.
Slydog - the power window is definitely standard now.
Sidewinder4 - Ventana details on Steinbring show that the passive steering is standard on all Ventana tag axles.

The consumer has no say in whether there is a tag axle or not, so it is built into the MSRP. 40' and up have tag axles for Newmar. I've never heard of them doing a special request to add a tag axle to a smaller coach. Don't know if it is possible.

Mike --
Note too, as discussed in at least one other thread on the '16 Dutch Star, that the furniture between '15 and '16 DS is different -- Villa for '15 and back to Flexsteel for '16. Definitely different in look.
Newmar's Facebook pictures show the Flexsteel furniture on the '16's that were in the dealer show so you can see what the '16's will look like at delivery v. the '15's.

That was correct for 2015. 40 and 43 foot have Tags. For 2016, same sizes have Tags but they now have a passive steer tag.
This is the most significant change from 2015 to 2016 IMHO. Passive steer TAG at this price point is a game changer IMHO.
Most of the other changes are really just extra cost options now being standard.

I agree, I prefer the look of the TAG wheel matching the orientation of the outer wheel on the drive axle. But I would GLADLY give up that look for the functionality of the steerable TAG.
