Another Oasis Question?

This question has probably been asked before so excuse a newbie to Oasis heating. I have not had any cold weather to try this out but have wondered why you would not just use the Oasis on the electric mode for heat above 40 instead of using the heat pumps. My old MH heat pumps were noisy. Any pro or cons to doing this. Thanks, Bill

Not a problem as long as you don't want to take a shower. Also water is not as hot so zones tend to run longer.

I'm new and learning Oasis as well.

My take - AC elements are only 1500 W each - about what a hair dryer puts out. So if you need much heat it will take time.

Burner is 50,000 BTU so it is much faster heat if you need it.

for comparison - 1500W is about 5,000 BTU so burner is almost 10X the available heat as each AC element

That is 5000 btu each so 10,000 likely to keep coach warm and then the floor heat if you have. I would try that before anything else. Shower= burner.

The heat pumps at approx 13000 Btu each can put out much more heat than the Oasis on the electric elements only (more efficient because they move heat, they don't actually generate it), so the Oasis may have trouble keeping up, as mentioned. If you are paying for electricity by KWH heat pumps will cost you less because they are more efficient. There may be more reasons, these are just a couple, but if you don't like the noise it's certainly an alternative to listening to the heat pumps.

It's a good test. Try to take your shower without getting cool water. It's fun!
There really is enough time for a marine corps shower. A little cool water never hurt anyone.

Does running the heat pumps put more use/strain on the roof air conditioners? I've already had to replace both roof airs on a little over 1 year old coach and I don't even use the heat pumps.

Heat pumps are both air conditioners and heaters in one. They just reverse the process. Sounds like you had some defective units, definitely not due to use. They should last many years trouble free.

I definitely use the oasis rather than heat pumps. Warm air rises so the heat pumps need to push the air down on you and I don’t like it. I’d rather have the heat rising. Plus the oasis warms the floors by the registers. The only time I make use of the heat pumps is if I’m away for awhile and need to leave the coach on automatic temp control.

Thanks, For the replies. I understand about the water heat and the burner. I will have to try the Oasis on electric heat(thought I would get a chance this weekend in Ark. but ended up running the AC). I know winter will get here sooner than I want. Bill
