Question Another thread on Sleep Number

We are pretty much over trying to accept the queen Sleep Number bed in our 21 DSDP 4310. It is uncomfortable at any setting, uneven in the firmness at a given setting, and sometimes goes off on its own to dump or change levels. I will be calling SN on Monday for suggestions, but expect we'll be looking to replace it with a high quality alternative for comfortable medium-firm sleep.

The purpose of this post is to ask for recommendations from others who have made a change - why, and are you happy with your choice? Thanks.

When we purchased our new rig in late 2018, the factory supplied mattress was terrible, it was the standard cheap mattress. We immediately ordered a Purple 2 mattress. WOW. I lived in the RV for over 1.5 years for work and sleep better in the RV than on our super expensive pillow-top mattress at home. Will be upgrading our home mattress to a Purple sometime in the future. FYI, I have never had a sleep number so I can't compare to that.

Put a 2 inch memory foam topper on top of the sleep number.

That is what we did and we are very happy.

The reason there are a bazillion different mattresses out there is that everyone has a comfort level. They're not the same. We have a Sleep Number and it is very comfortable FOR US. You have to just try them out at a mattress store to find the one that's comfortable for you.

Weee at the point that we want to get a refund if SN will offer one and go with a traditional mattress. I wish that Stearns and Foster made a RV King.

Our 2008 Endeavor came with a sleep number. It only took a couple of nights to rip it out and sell online. It sold quickly. We bought a queen Tempurpedic which we were used to sleeping on in our house.

We wore it out and tried some of the cheaper clones but they were not very good and went back to a new Tempurpedic. We full time and I managed to install an adjustable frame. The Tempurpedic is ready to be replaced again.

We will looking for new improvements that might help keep it cooler.

Funny, we had a "top end" mattress brand (Simmons Beauty Rest, IIRC) in the coach when we bought it and hated it! We had a sleep number in a previous coach and loved it, so bought one with the rounded corners that fits the platform it sits on and gives more room for moving around the foot of the bed. Sleep great on it.

Everyone has their favorite for comfort. Asking for mattress advice is like having someone choose a spouse for you. ;-) :-)
