A while back I posted about a broken AM FM antennae, Finally got the New and Improved and replaced both the Am FM and CB antennae with the black rubber duckies that are on the 06 and newer Newmars.
My 05 came with a steel antennae with a spring base which broke off the AM FM, and was likely only a matter of time till the CB one broke also.
Originally my biggest concern was running the coax But the antennae attaches to the coax at roof level So I used the original coax.

The rubber ducky CB antenna has a removable black tip cap that is removed for adjusting the SWR.

Unfortunately that tip comes off far to easily.

I have tip #3 glued on with black silicone.

Dirk,
I have those Rubber Duckie antenna's on my 06 DSDP. I've lost a couple of our local stations on my dash am/fm stereo radio. Any ideas what could have caused this?

The tips were replaced twice under warranty.

The antenna works OK by my standards. I'm not a big CB user. I use it when traveling with others and listening for info from time to time.

Definitely not the antenna!

You can't tune some local stations manually? I don't think I ever heard a problem like that. Sorry, I can't help.

Yea Dirk< Pretty much what I am looking for, Be able to talk to someone I am travelling with, and likely Lead to tail of a convoy depending on No's and as long as they aren't too spread out,and a little Road/Weather info.

I was wanting to install the Firestyk No Ground Plane roof mount but you need to run the NGP coax also and replacing the existing coax to the roof would be a Huge PITA So we will see how this works

OR

I will do as GaryKD did and mount a Firestyk NGP side mount on the Driver's side 'A' post. From here I can run the new coax.

I use the CB very little unless we are traveling with another motorhome. Last year I lead a Newmar caravan into Mexico and with CBs we kept the group together going across the border and through towns.
