Any advice in considering 2021 vs Ordering 2022 RIght now (M.A. 4118)

Hello all,

Looking for any advice on purchasing a New 2021 right now vs ordering new 2022 delivered in spring. We are looking at M.A. 4118, for equally equiped, the 2021 is about 16-18K cheaper.

I guess you are asking this because you really don’t want the 2021 but you are wondering if you can live with the compromise to save a little money. Otherwise, you would have bought the 2021 already. I don’t think $16k more 6 months from now is an issue when you are buying a M.A. is it? You will probably regret not getting what you want despite the small savings.

Hi - That '21 is now a year old coach so if you go that route make sure that the price is adjusted with that in mind.

Thanks for feedback. To clarify, we like both - frankly I don’t see a lot of difference. I was having a hard time determine what’s a appropriate discount for the 21. Right now, the discount is about 1% more.

The colors are slightly different but fine. The only meaningful thing different if we configured would be Theatre seats instead of the swivel recliners. So we are struggling to reconcile having a 21 right now or waiting for a 22 probably April. The 16 k discount didn’t seem like enough to justify the difference in years but then, I am not sure if it matters or not.

2021 was a tough year on coach builders. Units sat in factory lots waiting parts, people, and furniture. Many of the lines running were doing so with CV impacts.

Our Entegra was finished in early Dec but delivered in late Feb. I know many Newmar's had the same delays.

Not that everything is back to normal yet, but I would vote for a 2022. It's your money, you do you.

Best of luck.

I would get the '22 just to get the theater seating. I really dont like the swivel chairs.

I guess it firstly depends on the floorplan and furniture you want, you could probably change the recliners to theater seating if you wanted, but it would cost $$. If you ordered the '22 you could have the paint, furniture, and any specials you want right from the start.

Steinbring does a great job listing the new features for '22, not really huge differences but certainly some QOL changes.

Best of luck in your decision

You will definitely enjoy the "Theater Seating" more so than the Recliners, & the theater seats don't wobble, nor move around. And, if ever needed, should have additional seat belts!

Also, if you order the '22, you can special order the paint colors, and also add other things which you might desire!

And, as a suggestion, with the '22 you can specify the "FPU", Factory Pickup Option, which will better insure the quality control, plus you get to spend 5 days learning "everything" about your NEW Newmar coach! A great experience! Plus an assigned Newmar "tech" to help with any issues, corrections, or adjustments needed, before you depart! "FPU" is well worth the expense; whether your first of 5th Newmar!

Either way, Good Luck, Enjoy the Coach, & Build Memories for a life time!

Do you have a coach now or will this be your first? If the new MA is a replacement unit for something you are enjoying now I'd say flip a coin. If you are just starting RVing & you are as old as some on here maybe don't leave eight months on the table waiting on a ordered unit. I'm quite sure the 21 is a beautiful coach too!

We debated the same thing. We were able to negotiate a better deal with our 22 and I got everything I wanted w/out anything I didn't want.

I might suggest that you get the coach you really want, 16k difference in the end wont matter over time, the 21' has certainly depreciated more than the 22 and more than the 16k delta.

Biggest difference is the NAV change. Some like Rand others dont. Personally I like it but I also run a Garmin 1090 and my wife runs one other google or waze. Most run redundant NAV.

I would negotiate a better price and just add theater seating. Relatively simple to do and aftermarket theater seats are nicer. I bet there weren't many changes made to that model during covid. Get out there and live is my motto

Thank you all for the input and information, the Steinbring link was especially helpful. We have a very good 2020 Pace Arrow that we are using, so we are going to wait on the 2022 we are ordering so we can have the Theatre Seating and the updates on the 2022 - we like the new phone app and the larger kitchen window. That also gives us the exact colors we want.

We tried to negotiate the 2021 down, but they won't budget.

We just ordered a 4118 from NIRVC Atlanta. Got the theater seating instead of the recliners. Very happy with the NIRVC experience so far. Now entering the waiting phase!
