Any Maytag icemaker troubleshooting tips?

Have a Maytag french door residential fridge (MF12269VEM10). Everything is great with unit EXCEPT ice maker quit a year or so ago. Still have water in the door. Decided to dig in so I started with changing the water inlet valve. Didn't fix it, as before I have water in the door just fine & ice maker still makes no ice.
I found no "reset" on the maker itself & bale is in the lower position. The trouble shooting tips in the user guide are pretty basic. Anyone have any pearls to try before just ordering a replacement ice maker? Thanks

Doesn't your Ice Maker have an On/Off switch on the lower side of front cover?
*turn off/back on to reset controls

Also.......if freezer temps are above 5*F...no Ice production

OK if turning the ON/OFF switch on the power head of the icemaker resets then yes I've done that already. No ice

I did a bunch of troubleshooting and finally found the Ice Maker was bad. Ordered a new one, changed it out, and it's been fine since. Just make sure that if and when you'redone with the coach, turn off the switch attached to the front of the icemaker, especially if you've got AC going to it but no water. Look up install video's first to make sure you have the right one and how to remove and install a new one. Trick on the clip holding the main unit from coming out when pulling on it within the videos.

Ice Maker Assembly

You're welcome. Just take your time and pay attention to where everything went to and how it was routed. Take pictures of the old one for reference. I had to have the newer wire harness on mine.

I don't have any hard evidence, but I lift the arm on my current coach and used to turn the switch off on the previous coach whenever we were not hooked to shore water and/or driving.

If we needed to make ice while boondocking, I would turn on the water pump and leave it on. My point.....I don't think it's a good idea to leave the icemaker on when there is no water available.

Here is another video, just skip down a bit to see the removal and install, including the difference between the two harnesses that come with the kit.

And as I stated in my first post, TURN OFF THE SWITCH TO THE ICEMAKER WHEN YOU WON'T BE USING IT, especially if you're connected to power and the fridge is on, but the water is off. Otherwise, it will continue to cycle since it can't fill.

I agree with Don on turning off the icemaker. I had to replace two of them in our current Maytag in the first two years. I finally learned to turn it off when the coach is in storage and this one has lasted three years now.

I removed mine & after removing the white cap with the switch mine actually had a slightly different part number (W10377151). They had the replacement for my part number so I ordered it. I will be strict about turning it off when not in use from now on as I haven't been in the past. I likely cooked the old unit.

Thanks for the update, both on the part and the fix.

Yep a repairman that works on many residential fridges in Rv told me if it is on without water the heater that releases the ice burns out. Turn it off if water isnít available.

Just time, take pictures of the old one and reroute the new one in the same places.
