Anyone removed passenger desk?
We love almost everything about our Dutch Star 4366 but the built in passenger work desk is not our favorite. It seems to take up more room than we are willing to give up. I unbolted the unit to remove but it looks like the base will take a bit of work. Just wondering if anyone else has also removed theirs. Thanks

Mine came out in about the first hour of ownership and went into the rafters. It was an ankle biter and pain in butt.....at least for us.

We were out window shopping Newmars. Really liked the DSs. But those passenger seat desks were pretty cheesy looking. Would be the first thing I'd take a wrench to.
Have you tried calling Newmar customer support for help?

I wish I could be a passenger to try it out, but I'm always the designated driver.

After two trip, the DW decided it was worthless. Removed it. Really easy, just one hex bolt to remove. It now sits nicely on a shelf in the Garage.

I've only spent about 1 hour in the passenger seat but I really liked using the laptop desk. I was expecting it to be useless but it actually works quite well.

It was fairly easy to remove and both Jetsmania and I had the passenger seat computer table removed at the factory. Easy at least for the service department. They have had many complaints; and while any of us can remove the bolt to remove it, they take it out and cut off a little of the bar under the seat. It can still be utilized when wanted, but because it does not stick out into the aisle when not on the base while the seat is turned inward to the living area, it does not wipe out an ankle.
The basic problem is that it is too long of a design. Cutting a bit off sure helps. From what I have observed, most of the computer tables once taken off the passenger seat ride a garage attic or floor, stored away somewhere.

One bolt and it comes right off. We removed it fairly soon after delivery. The base that's left on ours is barely noticeable.
Here is the thread where I spoke about removing mine:

How much of that bar can you cut off and still be able to attach the table for a 2nd buyer? We had the factory take the table off for us but they said there was nothing they could do about the bar sticking out from under the seat other than cut it off. But then no one else can attach the table for use. At that time not knowing how far out it would stick we told the factory to leave the bar there, which we wish they hadn't left any of it sticking out.
We very seldom turn the chair around but do store our CG directory and travel map there and it would be nice to have that extra room by getting rid of that bar.
And that table now takes up room out in the garage.

Is the DS that different from the Ventana seat? If you look at the pictures of ours removed in the linked thread above, you can't even see the receiver left on the seat after removing the table.

You can completely remove the mounting bar. You need to lift the chair off the frame (4 bolts) and you can then see what needs to be unbolted.

There must be some differences some place between the DS and Ventana otherwise surely Newmar would have taken it all off when we requested the table be removed before delivering it to the dealer.
I looked once under the passenger seat but couldn't tell where/how that bracket for the table was attached. After seeing the picture of the one above for a Ventana I'll have to approach that idea again.
