Anyone Towing the new 2020 AWD Hybrid Ford Escape yet?

I'm having my 2020 AWD Ford Escape Hybrid outfitted with a Blue Ox baseplate as we speak and wondering if anyone has been out with new Ford Escape yet?

Hey Guy - I just asked for similar info. I traded for a FWD version today. I was told all the Hybrids are towable by the way. It looks simple and easy to use. I will be towing behind a 4369 Ventana with 400 - so doubt I will even know it is behind me. I drove the car yesterday and fell in love with it. I loved my CRV and had it for 4 years and put 60, 000 miles on it. I have towed many Fords over the years, mainly Expeditions and Explorer's. I had two Honda Pilots then Honda made all their vehicles not towable. Was ready to pull the trigger on a Jeep - then found the Escape. Looking forward to getting it on the road soon!

Just installed my Blue Ox baseplate

My local shop installed my BlueOx baseplate and wired my towplug to my tail lights with the blue ox light kit. In addition, the shop installed the RVI break away ring and also installed the RVI tow battery charger. Total cost was $1100 and this was a big job as compared to the install I did myself on my 2017 Jeep Rubicon. I think they did a great job!

Does the placement of the 6 pin connector affect (or is it effect) your adaptive cruise control radar?

It looks like you've got "plugs" in the tow bar connection "holes", would love to get a couple of those to dress my F-150 up when I'm not towing. Do you know where to find those?

dashboard message

Hi there,
Getting ready to tow our 2020 Escape Hybrid for the first time tomorrow. I went through the directions in the owner manual, but they don’t appear to be correct. I see no setting on the screen for Neutral Tow. Anyone want to walk me through the steps of how to find that setting?

Figured it out....silly me

All set now. One extra tap of the down arrow and I found Neutral tow. Hoping for smooth towing tomorrow. Happy 4th to all.

What braking system are you using? Is it the RViBrake? Where are you plugging the brake system in that is active while towing?

We use the Air Force One which is air driven from our diesel coach. It still draws power from the jump start post under the hood (for the breakaway circuit and monitor led).

You'll need the charging line kit as Neutral Tow draws power.

I use the RVI brake system and TPMS. I plug the RVI into the 12v plug for power and use the RVI towed vehicle charging accessory to keep the battery charged.
