Auto start genset?

Ok another question about my new to us rig, 2005 DSDP. I found two stickers in a cabinet (they were not attached, just laying there) that were warning stickers about an automatic start genset. I also found in my Newmar bag of goodies, along with instruction manuals for most things, a card that hung from the thermostat that also indicated an automatic start genset.

I hope thas means it is an auto start genset but I wondered if there was some way to know for sure from either looking at the genset or some other place in the motor home. Oh, it is a cat 7.5 KW genset.

Thanks for you help in advance.

Dan

Dan,

We have auto genset and our controls are in the same cabinet in the bedroom as the main circuit breakers. It is important to find your auto genset control box to take note of the brand and model, then look for a manual on how to control and set it, or turn it off if it has previously been set.

You can set it to start the generator when battery voltage gets to a certain level, you can give it time of day commands, quiet time, etc.

If it has already been set on one of these parameters it would be important for you to agree to the setting. Otherwise, your generator could be coming on at times you don't approve.

Don

The other parameter you can control is temp. If you were to lose shore power, the genset would come on when the temp in the coach reaches the set value. We had it installed by Newmar two years ago because we have two dogs. The control box is located in the bay in front of the left front tire and the remote power control is located above the awning controls above the CP seat.
