Baggage Door Locks

Good Morning Everyone,

The baggage door locks have failed to actuate, seemed like this w has been coming for a few days. Changed the 20A fuse, F18, which we got one lock out of and then failed.
Has anyone had experience with this before? Where should we start our troubleshooting. We'll sure look at all the wires where they enter the doors on the hinge side.
Thanks in advance for your input on this and all the best to you all!

Jeff and Lynn

Good Morning. I have a Ď15 DS 4369 too. Did you have a baggage door recall notice sent to you and have you had it done if you have? There is an issue that may be causing your grief. - Ron

Hey Ron, thanks for that. I agree with you and I have an appointment next month to work on the issue. I downloaded all relevant recall info. Locks work but intermittently. Did you have this problem also?

Half of our doors were not working intermittently. The Newmar tech removed the plastic cover over the lock in one of the doors and found a loose wire.

Hey Jeff. My locks have been working intermittently and finally stopped working completely. I just ordered and changed the baggage door lock control module part number 125844, located behind the passenger armrest (pain). That seems to cure one of my problems. If you have a test light take the black cover off of the doors that you are having trouble with. Unplug the actuator and use the test light on both sides of the circuit. Use your key fob to lock/unlock. You should see light from both sides of the circuit. In my case, only one side the lock side would light the test light.
After changing the control module, both sides tested OK.If you need, I do have a schematic for the lock system and I could PDF it to you. Good luck. - Ron

Jeff, I missed your point. Just saw your request was about the recall:
So if you use the power locks during low voltage, you can fry the actuators in the baggage doors causing a potential fire. The recall simply installs an automatic cutoff if voltage drops below 10v. Therefore, no further fire risk. - Ron

Hey Ron, thanks for all of that! I ordered a new switch but not the module. I think I will order the module as well after this conversation with you! Next, I did remove the plastic cover/cup holder on the passenger side. If I move the entire piece in a certain way, the Locks work correctly which suggests some sort if a connection issue? Donít you think? I have an appointment in a month, Iíll keep working on it!
Thank you very much,
Jeff and Lynn

Jeff, having been ďintimateĒ with that armrest, I would guess you are correct about a loose connection. The two main things to check are the 2 3M splice connectors that attached to the switch wires going to the module and then Iíd check the spade connectors on the switch on the face of the cover itself. Those seem to be the weak points. Happy hunting. - Ron
