Battery tray latch
2004 mountain aire battery tray latch is unuseable. Parts dept only shows a weld on replacement. Anyone have a part # for replacement latch??
Also I am planning on running 2 bolts thru tray on each side when I find replacement latch.
Suggestions??? Thoughts???

If your going to put bolts thru the tray then there's really no need to replace the latch.

No, it looks like the regular cabinet latch with a tongue that holds tray in place. My problem is weight of tray pushes against latch and bends frame around latch allowing the catch to slip out. I am 20 miles away from rv next time down I will take a pic.
I found part in Newmar parts list but it only showed welded latch and I need latch with 4 screws holding it.
Clear? I'm confused after reading my post

Sounds like your battery tray latch is the same as the one we had replaced on our 08 Ventana. The Newmar techs at the Tampa Supershow rally replaced ours with one they got from the parts department. Both the old and new latches attached to the tray using four bolts. According to the techs, some of the latches are welded and some are not.
Sorry but I do not have a part number for the latch. Probably worth a call to the guys at Newmar if you have not done so already.

My tray latch was broken (the one pictured above) so rather than paying Newmar $90+ for a $25 latch, I just drilled a hole in the try and down through the frame and inserted a hitch pin with a ring and chain. That actually is a more positive method of securing the tray from potential slide out.
I later ran across the part from the tray vendor for $25 so purchased one to be installed some time in the future when I have the batteries out and can remove the tray (latch is in the back side of the tray).

Thanks for the info. Did email Newmar and awaiting response. Going to drill on both sides of tray and use 2 hardened bolts, a little overkill. My original latch was the welded one and certainly not worth the 97. Newmar is asking.

Mcheck I had a similar problem with my battery tray. The latch operated but did not travel far enough to unlatch. When I called Newmar to see how to fix it, they said to remove latch. Problem is it is welded in their suggestion was to use an inpact chisel and remove it.  There has to be a better way.

My battery tray latch failed a few years back and I drilled some holes and made my own.

I assume it is this type.... After the second one failed... I found the only option was to reweld it. Whoever did it the first time did two quick spot welds both of which failed.
